(Don't really know where else to put this so I'll say it here.)

We should stop collecting +1s for Promos in DBs. The amount of +1s a promotion recommendation gets means nothing, and collecting them just makes the DB take longer.

Most DB goers just +1 everyone who gets recommended automatically. The amount of +1s someone gets is more an indication of how many people attended more than anything. The +1 count says nothing about if the person who was recommended is actually deserving of the promotion. I sincerely doubt any CO considers the +1 count when deciding to grant promos anyway.

So, I’m suggesting Combine and Rebels change the way they do DBs. When someone is recommended, instead of collecting +1s, I recommend we move to only asking for objections (aka -1s). This will make DBs go a lot faster.

The first part is a valid point. However, I think getting picked out and recommended by someone in the first place is where the majority of the feeling-appreciated comes from. To me the +1s counting is just gratuitous.

As for people abusing objections, people are already prompted to give -1s and this isn't a problem. Nothing should change in this regard. People take -1s seriously, and if it becomes a problem, we can punish the abusers if they don’t stop.

I agree, half the time I'm hosting a DB I just count how many people are there and put it as the amount of +1s. Everyone kinda just +1 stuff out of cordiality, and when they don't is because they weren't paying attention in the DB or forgot to, and only once in a celestial alignment does someone gives a -1, that might not even be a serious one.

I'm not sure how they're handled in the Combine side, so I won't presume to speak with property on that end, but as far as Resistance DBs go, +1s have been rendered useless, and I personally think it's better that way.

Also, true, I never check how many +1s someone got in DB before considering granting them or not, like Sevin said, it says nothing other than how many people were attending.
