What is your reason(s) for applying for Gamemaster?
I wish to add more to both the lore of CVR and also to break out the more comedic nature of it

If it's constructive criticism I read what they say about me and the events and improve upon them (Unless there IS nothing to improve upon)
Borderline harassment... Just report them or something, or ignore them.



While planning a server-wide Event you realized that it would make hosting it much easier if you had another Gamemaster assisting you, and manage to get someone to help. Unfortunately 5 minutes before the Event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed?
Either ask another gamemaster about the assistance, or attempt to do it myself.



While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react?
Calm down, explain the situation to the rest of the Defn networks community and what happened that caused it, and never do it again unless it was caused by a combination of things, in which case don't do all those things at once.



An NCO has finished training a Recruit, but there are no COs or Staff online to provide the whitelist. What do you do?
NCO's can give whitelist, but if they don't know how I can give the UNION the whitelist and then tell the NCO about what to do.



While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react?
DM the officer about it, maybe have a thing where when they destroy the computer the door opens anyways, but as a punishment I add a few hostile NPC's or something, maybe antlions.



While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation?
Tell them about the event and what it is suppose to entail, and if that doesn't work contact a DvL or something.



After hosting a server-wide Event, you are in the middle of a post-event Debrief when the COs present tell you to stop hosting your DB so they can host theirs. How do you react?
Let them host it and then when they're done I host my own later.



What permissions do Gamemasters have, both inside and outside of Events?
They can use phys. guns, create vehicles, create obstacles, etc. Unless there's someone else hosting the event that they don't want assistance to.



While preparing to host an Event, you notice that there are 3 vehicles deployed, and that the server is lagging a bit because of that. What do you do?
Ask the drivers to undeploy the vehicles or start despawning props until the lag stops and wait for the vehicles to be destroyed or scrapped, or until the teams realize they shouldn't have THAT many vehicles on the field.



Describe your design process of Events prior to queuing them.
Ask gamemaster's assistance, start building the event location, placing NPC's that sorta thing, and then make sure that nothing will go wrong and have backup plans if they do.



Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is appreciated, and a lack of details will be penalized.

Before I state what these events are suppose to be, the best they would work in is that big map with D being a factory.

1. The Destructors VS AJC's edible nitroglycerin factory:
AJC and Mannerheim are having an issue with certain affairs against the Destructors. They aim to destroy the factory in order to gain dominance over the criminal underground. The Icelandic PMC known as "Stormsvietarmenn" are assisting AJC and his factory. They are confused and don't know what to shoot beside AJC and their comrades(They will be colored purple and the destructors will be colored pink to imply they are not rebels since they will have rebel clothing, check the lore book at the top to get a better idea of what they'll look like.) The combine and the resistance's objective is to use the ensuing fight to try and take majority control for 5 minutes. If there are 7 units of either side they will take control, but if there's 2 more (9 in this case) than the 7 (or more) units, they will have more control. The Soldiers will be ordered to fire upon the other side if one has majority control. If one side wins, then one of two events down below will happen.

2. The Rescue of AJC (Rebel win)
The resistance have gotten AJC prisoner, and are interrogating him for information. However, the combine anticipated this. They are sending a full frontal assault against the rebels in order to take him back to the combine base for questioning and information since he had stated earlier in a voice recording that he had secret plans for his next big thing. During the event, AJC's PMC will be going with the combine this time (This time they're colored blue) in order to take back the one who gives them the paycheck. The resistance are not going to let up and are using a jeep in order to stop the combine. If the combine can take AJC back without him dying or all of THEM dying, then the combine win, or if all the combine die the resistance wins, and if AJC dies, no one wins.


3. "God damn it, I left the documents again!" (Combine win)
After AJC is taken back after the event at his factory, he states that he left plans at his now destroyed factory for "The big one" And no it is not a recreation of the bombs used for Hiroshima and such. AJC wants the combine to go BACK to the factory in order to retrieve those plans. However, an SU (just a random one) relays this to the Rebels and now they want it. The only two things that are between the combine and the resistance are a factory full of angry Destructors (Again colored pink to indicate) that need to be dispatched. (also the documents will just be a plastic cube colored light blue) Once a side has taken the documents back to their base, they win (Future event ideas coming soon)


How often do you think GMs should host events?
Often enough so that it keeps thing interesting, but not too often that it becomes old.

Haven't seen you much in community but then again I'm a rebel main. That, and usually it takes pretty good leadership and discipline to get to SqL, hence why I lean towards +1

Neutral. your events arent necessarily bad or good in my opinion. yes you put alot of time into the google doc but that doesnt really go towards GM stuff.

+1 I have actually worked with AJC holding CWU/civilian related side events and he was very pleasant to work with and had good ideas.

Sadly, I must deny your application right now.
While most answers to the questions are acceptable, some fall below the line of what is passable, and not having enough detail for some.


Events:


1. This event fails to tie into Half Life in a way and focuses on external creations by you, which isn't a good idea in almost all situations. Events should focus on existing factions in the server to make sure that players are able to follow them and know what is actually happening. The core idea for the event is ok, king of the hill style of events aren't new though.


2. This event isn't good, base raids don't constitute good events in most situations and unless they have something to them that distinguishes them from regular base raids COs can organise with Staff then they might as well not be events at all. Also having the VIP die being a tie may just cause the losing side to shoot them, to at least stop the other side from winning.


3. This event is alright, the idea of having teams collect a prop and take it back to base while using NPCs to stop the event from ending quickly is novel though props that small are often lost easily at the fault of no one. This event would also end very quickly.


General Comments:
  • Events are missing detail on pre and post event information, such as briefing to teams and the rewards that are given out.
  • Events all take place on a single map and all focus on the same thing with not much change, more feeling like the 3 event suggestions in reality should all be 1 event. 
  • The focus on characters that you've created is off putting and seems somewhat self-centred, also demonstrating a lack of variety.
