Gamemaster Application

List all RP Character names

Kingslayer P-B SGT Argentini (Soon to be CK'd to join HECU, I don't like carrying ranks over divisions)

SteamID & Discord Name/Tag

Argentini#3250 / STEAM_0:0:564115838

Region/Timezone

GMT-3

List all (if any) previous punishments (Warns/Bans)

Analman warned me twice for racism and toxicity (Aithead was there I kept dissing his SU skills)
Other than that I've been perma banned a couple times for using alt accounts. Probably have a few warn on those accounts but no way in hell I'm logging onto them.

What is your reason(s) for applying for Gamemaster?

As much as I've always rag on GMs (I'm waiting for the quotes in the comments) I do think we need events since the core gameplay seems to be "I do nothing because combine stink and get spawncamped". So I want me and everyone else to have something to do when that happens (which always happens)

Have you ever been Event Staff or something similar before? If so, list your previous positions.

GM in GGN Imperial RP (it died long ago, they go by KGB these days)

Describe how you react to negative feedback, from constructive criticism to borderline harassment.

I get this shit literally all the time, to the constructive criticism I just look for a way to prove them wrong (because they're wrong 9/10). The rest I either ignore or egg them on and see how far they get. (yeah I get its not the correct thing to do but its funny)

While planning a server-wide Event you realized that it would make hosting it much easier if you had another Gamemaster assisting you, and manage to get someone to help. Unfortunately 5 minutes before the Event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed?

I cancel the event and use my backup (not saying I have a backup for this particular event but you always have a defacto "Okay let's just do that") as an opt-in for anyone that wanted to participate.

While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react?

I let Sentard know it might've been me and then go to my test server (or the official dev server) and re-create it (hi yes if you didn't know I'm a developer here), it's probably just a big coincidence anyways.

An NCO has finished training a Recruit, but there are no COs or Staff online to provide the whitelist. What do you do?

I bitch and moan about the fact that I can't whitelist them.

While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react?

I cry in joy because someone decided to do something interesting.
And then I kill them all because said computers had a failsafe, if destroyed the whole place is rigged to blow, killing everyone inside. Then point the opposite team to a server from which they must remove the hard drive and bring it to their engineering bay to decipher whats in it.

While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation?

Hey man if they don't wanna play then they don't wanna play, If they'd rather be bored outta their minds because the enemy team isn't in the field its their fault.
Then for the sake of the event I would split the team in half (coloring stuff) and pretend they're the enemy team (name changes and all). This sounds even more fun honestly, I can imagine people doing dumb stuff like RU pretending to be RAZOR or HECU against Tech.

After hosting a server-wide Event, you are in the middle of a post-event Debrief when the COs present tell you to stop hosting your DB so they can host theirs. How do you react?

I mean, it's the same thing really. If they want to hold the DB they can do it, its post-event.
I can stuff whatever story I was gonna say and let them come up with something (if anything).

What permissions do Gamemasters have, both inside and outside of Events?

spawning el funny car for civies
testing stuff for events
allow grids and engis to craft
mini-events (I'll be doing a lot of those since I play at low pop)
As for inside events, everything is pre-approved so they can just do whatever.

While preparing to host an Event, you notice that there are 3 vehicles deployed, and that the server is lagging a bit because of that. What do you do?

That never happens, fake situation vehicles don't cause lag lets go 13 tickrate!!!
if it were to be laggy as sin when I'm planning to host an event though, I would just hold off until it blows over (30 minutes max, any more and its cancelled)
Interrupting regular gameplay for an event is not something I appreciate as a player when I don't feel like participating. (No one will complain if we force vehicles to undeploy though, everyone hates them)

Describe your design process of Events prior to queuing them.

It starts by asking people what they would like to do in an event, basically stealing their ideas at that point.
maybe reading a little, play some videogames afterwards to clean my plate and start writing out 2 different stories based on what people told me. Out of that story make a basic plan (as in, when this occurs I spawn X amount of NPCs, if they go too fast I spawn them earlier, etc) and thats it.

Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is appreciated, and a lack of details will be penalized.

Events 2 and 3 will be of smaller scope.

1.

As I was writing this I've talked to Dama about separating MPF from OTA, so as an event I would start with exactly that, a coup.

The event starts with a call for DB as rebels have found out about the powers of radiation, and they're trying to harvest it in the sewers to power a machine capable of destroying an entire outpost in minutes.

I would get a SeC (actor) to have a fight with an MPF CmD (or DvL) over conflicting orders during DB (Everyone of course knowing its an event), then said DvL grabs all of MPF with him somewhere else, the SeC then declares all of MPF as KOS.

I would hope my actors will have sufficient banter through /advert to make everything fun, with MPF changing their names to whatever they feel like to stick it to the combine.

The Rebel's objective: Survive for 30 minutes to an hour (haven't decided).
MPF's objective: Steal the machine and power it up for themselves.
OTA's objective: Destroy the machine and eliminate both the rebels and the rebelling MPF.

After everything is set in motion, rebels would be holed up in the sewer entrance of point B (Want to make it easier for combine since they'll be fighting each other too even though OTA will probably dominate MPF)

with the machine blocked with props. This machine is actually a powerful OSS (bite me, we don't have any special models nor OP weapons) with infinite ammo and 15k health (infinite health upon activation)

This event would be more dynamic, so if MPF steal the machine 5 minutes before its fully powered up for example, I'll come up with some wacky excuse like "your grid has to do X and Y" (unless there is no grid, in which case anyone can)

If combine win they just get a regular old boring DB (Combine having the advantage over MPF since its CQC based, so no big rewards)

MPF get to see a big OSS nail everyone (and I mean EVERYONE, unless I'm in a good mood.)

Rebels get to see a big OSS nail everyone but themselves.

As for rewards, there's only one, whoever I deem to be the MVP gets to play as the machine (I will heavily favor roleplay, so it might end up being one of my actors).

As for the ending, sadly for MPF, they all get to die regardless of whether they win or not.
If not destroyed the machine runs out of fuel after about 10 minutes or so, deactivating (hopefully mid-combat) and shortly after blowing up (because why not?)

Boomstick always yapping about roleplay so

2.

It has come to CWU's attention that there is something strange at the nightclub, the music there seems to have healing properties. Due to this they will bring their senior members, frail and senile, to this club in the hopes to aleviate them from their condition (that of being old as fuck), but whats this? There's people already at this club, and they're so loud! (hopefully we could convince people to play the part, if not it'd just have to be actors, though the promise of listening to music at the disco surely will bring more people) I can't hear the music Sad
CWU members must come to an agreement with these folks, but apparently, they dislike this music, quite a lot actually. They'd rather hear a song less... jammy (yes the healing music is Jellyfish Jam).

MURDER WILL GET YOU KILLED BY THE GUARDS AND THE PERSON WILL BE REVIVED BY THE MUSIC (Playing through a Sony Walkman if CWU hasn't completed it's objective at the moment of death)

CWU's objective, convince the young folk to stop listening to this raving lunatic's music and get some of that good stuff.

Reward, you get to listen to Jellyfish Jam with a bunch of people.

Duration, hopefully 30 minutes + however long we want to rave afterwards

3.

A breakthrough in teleportation technology has allowed us safe travel to Xen once more, well, at least the resistance. Combine are so far oblivious to this. That being said, it is to dangerous for the science team to take full advantage of the situation. For this a plan has been deviced, the science team will clear out an entire Xenian factory by teleporting all of its aliens into our world, as the rebels cannot afford to leave the planet thanks to the combine's increasing advances towards their HQ.
The resistance being the good guys they are wouldn't risk letting these aliens run by, so they designated a quarantine zone, their own HQ, no one enters or leaves from this place until the science team gives the thumbs up. The combines are sure to take notice once the teleportation begins, and God knows what they'll do.

Rebel's objective, kill every Xenian creature to come out of these portals.
Combine's objective, figure out what the hell is going on, if they manage to do so they may attempt somehow to stop the Science Team from entering Xen. (if they do not find a solution on their own, I'll point them to flodding their HQ with headcrab canisters.

some creatures may bleed outside of rebel HQ to make things interesting, though I don't want to interrupt the game for other people so this will be limited.

If a combine wishes to participate in the rebel combat, they will be pilled as a combine shotgunner or soldier and then teleported, they must act like an NPC and will hopefully die rather quickly.

Duration, 30 minutes to an hour depending on how people react, though I've been told it would be, and I quote "epic".

as a post event remnant/reward, a special vortigaunt will appear 10 minutes after the post event db is called. He will be able to "teleport" (silent cloaked noclip) to any point, sadly they will have to be a staff member or GM, this vortigaunt will have 500hp and is to be colored blue. Once it dies its all over, he may only last for a maximum of 20 minutes, if he survives that long he will go back to Xen and work on getting the factory up and running for the Resistance.

How often do you think GMs should host events?

big events? no more than once a month.
Mini-events however should be done often (mainly during low pop and whenever the combine are having their arse kicked), I'd say once a week per GM (not a lot considering there's 168 hours per week and these events shouldn't last longer than one.)

Do you understand and accept the following clause: I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, I will not abuse my powers, and I will not break the Gamemaster rules. Additionally, I will add [DEFN] to my Steam name.

Yes I am happy to be part of the DEFN clan (you waited for me to finish the whole app to tell me I have to add [DEFN] to my name? cmon man)

Do you understand the basics of using ULX? List what you know.

Ehhhh, for now neutral. The application is absolutely stellar but some parts kinda worry me a bit. The events are also really good but its just some of your answers that really worry me.

I am really fucking sick right now so this could just be the H2O delirious (get joke?) coming off right now but I think I'll stick with a staunch neutral

+1 Although a lot of people don’t take Argentini seriously, I like the ideas of his events and imo answered the questions well.

Primarily due to the fact of how you answered your questions, I am a bit worried how you would fair as a GM. However, the events you bring up and the ideas you have are rather original and good. An MPF coup? Xen teleporter? If only I had those when I started out. anyways, best of luck Argentini, and lets hope your answers are purely ironic...
