What is your reason(s) for applying for Gamemaster?

I want to host my own little and big event on the server. I already had a lot of fun building my little shops as trusted, and selling things to players. So, now I want to become GM so I can make more of these little events, like building shops. But, I also want to create bigger events now, and give the players a more unique playing experience, while playing on the server.

Have you ever been Event Staff or something similar before? If so, list your previous positions.

I have not been Event Staff on any Gmod server, though as I said before, I have gained some experience while being trusted, by building small shops.

Describe how you react to negative feedback, from constructive criticism to borderline harassment.

To standard negative feedback I would react to it open minded. I always want to improve on how I work, and I am fully aware that I'm not going to be the best GM on the server, so I'm always going to be open to criticism and alike.
But to borderline harassment, I would most likely just ignore them (if they aren't going to raise any valid points of criticism). If the criticism is actually valid, then I will try to improve my work, and try to cooperate with them.

While planning a server-wide Event you realized that it would make hosting it much easier if you had another Gamemaster assisting you, and manage to get someone to help. Unfortunately 5 minutes before the Event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed?

I would either get another GM to help me, or postpone the event. But, I would do something small instead, something spontaneous, so the server doesn't loose too many players and they can still enjoy their time playing on the server.

While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react?

Explain the situation to staff, so they restart the server, write an explanation the public Defn discord server, and get as many people back on the server. Then, I would host a small event to apologies for crashing the server.

An NCO has finished training a Recruit, but there are no COs or Staff online to provide the whitelist. What do you do?

Whitelist the Recruit

While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react?

I would continue by either doing one of two things:

1. Stop the CO from sabotaging the event, get staff to remove him from the event, and rebuild the computer if it got destroyed.

2. Adapt to the situation, and add a different way so the other side can still continue.

While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation?

At first, I will try to cooperate with the CmD/MAJ so we can continue with the event. If they are unwilling to cooperate, I will try to get staff to resolve the issue, because the CmD/MAJ is actively interrupting and sabotaging the event.

After hosting a server-wide Event, you are in the middle of a post-event Debrief when the COs present tell you to stop hosting your DB so they can host theirs. How do you react?

I will tell the COs to remain patient until I have finished my DB. But I will try to get things moving quicker, so they can host their DB as soon as possible.

What permissions do Gamemasters have, both inside and outside of Events?

Only things that can help GMs manage/host events. They don't posses any staff ULX perms:

While preparing to host an Event, you notice that there are 3 vehicles deployed, and that the server is lagging a bit because of that. What do you do?

Get one of the vehicles removed, since it is disturbing the player's experience.

Describe your design process of Events prior to queuing them.

Get an Idea for an event, write down what I need to do/get to do the event, ask other GMs to help me (if it's necessary for the event), and then plan ahead on how to do the event with my fellow GMs (or alone).
Then I'm going get it on the queuing list

Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is appreciated, and a lack of details will be penalized.[

1. The Rebell Cook:

Story: Recently, a popular Rebell Cook from the whiteforest base has travelled to the rebell base at [INSTERT MAP NAME HERE], to cook some BANGER steaks, burgers and another types of meat related foods. BUT, right as he was about to arrive, the combine tracked down the cook and kidnapped him and took all of his supplies! Now the rebells have to free him from his containment and they need to retake all of his supplies. If they succeed with freeing him and retrieving most of his equipment back, they will get some BANGER food. If they fail however, the combine instead will get some BANGER food (very sad).

Implementation: The Cook, alongside 4 pieces of his equipment will be scattered around the map, protected by combine FOBs. The pieces of equipment will all be labled and coloured, so it's easy to distinguish them from regular props. All of the equipment + the Cook must be freed and brought to the rebell base for them to be secured from the combine. If the rebells manage to bring back every piece of equipment + the Cook, they will win the event and will be given the reward. What specifically the reward will be, I will explain later on. If the combine manage to prevent the cook from being freed till the end of the event, they will have won the event and will recieve the special reward.
The rebells must first however retrieve the 4 pieces of equipment, before rescuing the Cook, who will be trapped in a FOB at the combine's A point. All of the other 4 pieces will not be placed on any specific point, and their position will be pre- determined by the GMs.
The 4 pieces of equipment are pretty straight forward on how to retrieve them back to the base. You pick them up and bring them to the base. If the rebells ever loose a piece of equipment, the combine can bring back that piece of equipment and can bring it back to it's original FOB. The Cook however, will be played by me (or any other GM willing to take up the role of Cook) and will have godmode, so he doesn't get shot. The Cook himself is unable to actually walk however, and must be hancuffed and dragged at any times if he needs to be relocated to another position. But the same rules apply to him, as the ones for pieces of equipment.

Reward: If either sides wins the event, they will recieve two things:
1. A big pile of recourses
2. A Shop at their base, where the Cook will be cooking foods of all kinds to sell to the winning faction. This shop remains as long as the GM (Cook) wants it to exist.

2. Battle of the Resources

Story: The last combine offensive into rebell territory was brutal. Both sides had far too many casualties, that even mentioning the numbers of deaths causes both faction leaders to get emotional. But now, they must focus on resupplying themselves for the next offensive. Both factions have called in trucks to resupply themselves with equipment of all kind. But, both sides had spies within the enemy's faction, and know when their trucks are going to arrive. So, both sides prepare to intersept the enemy's trucks, while still defending theirs, so they can get an advantage in the next battle over the enemy

Implementation: There will be a total number of 10 trucks on each side, that will be spawned in individually over a set period (basically, after a truck gets intersepted/reaches his destination, a timer will start for around 3-5 minutes, and then the next truck will be spawned in) . These trucks will be spawned equally far away from their faction's base, and will slowly make their way to their destination (their faction's base). These trucks will be filled with equipment, which if the enemy intersepts/destroys the truck, they will be allowed to use the equipment. If the truck reaches it's destination, the faction that recieves the truck will be able to make use of its equipment. The route of the trucks will always be the same and pre determined before the event. Both teams are not allowed to put in any obsticals/roadblocks of any kind, and must intersepted it by destroying the truck or taking hold of the driver. The driver must always comply with the attackers to leave the truck, UNLESS any of the truck's faction members are nearby and are trying to defend the truck. An example of an interseption would be:
A combine squad kills the rebell squad. They get to the truck and tell the driver to stop the truck and step out of the vehicle. After that, the squad takes the equipment, and the truck gets deleted/destroyed. After all of the 10 trucks of both factions were deployed periodically, it will be counted how many trucks were intercepted by each faction, and the faction who has intercepted the most trucks wins the event.

Reward: If either sides wins the event, they will recieve two things:
1. A big pile of recourses
2. A big pile of equipment and guns

3. A race to victory

Story: (This speech is being said by the highest combine CmD on the map [THIS IS JUST TO BE PART OF THE LORE, DOESN'T ACTUALLY HAVE TO BE SAID AT THE START OF AN EVENT]) This battle has been going on for far too long. We have made barely any progress, and neither has the enemy. So, to end this grousome battle ones and for all, and to avoid any further casualties, we have reached out to the rebells and asked if they are willing to find an alternative way to battling over the city without having to use violence. So, we challanged them to a car race. Whoever finishes the race first, gets to take over the city. And luckily for us, they accepted the challange. Our COs will do a car race against theirs, and will hopefully win. But, just so we have a higher chance to win, you all are allowed to build roadblocks around the tracks, so the rebells have a harder time winning this race. So prepare yourselfs for the race, and good luck to the COs. Glory to the UU!

Implementation: There will be a pre-determined route, with blocked off areas to make clear where the drivers are allowed to drive and where not to. There will be optional shortcuts the racers can take, but these will also be pre-determined by the GMs building the track. There are going to be 3 loops around the map, and after each loop, the driver will be exchanged for the next one. Only the COs will be able to participate in the car race directly, but the other common soldiers also serve an important purpose: They must try to make it as hard as possible for the enemy racer to win the race. They can do that by doing the follow:
- Build **SMALL AND LIMITED** (around 5-10 per faction) roadblocks inside the track after each loop
- Shooting the vehicle until it's destroyed
If the vehicle gets destroyed, the race driver must walk towards the nearest vehicle and try to drive with it. These extra vehicle are all around the track, and can be used, once a driver's vehicle was destroyed. These vehicles can reach from a simple car, to a rebell/combine APC, with which the driver is also allowed to shoot at his enemy's car. But at the start of the race, both start out with a simple car. The first racer who manages to do 3 loops wins.

Reward: If either racer wins the event, they will recieve two things:
1. As always, a big pile of recourses
2. 5 APCs for their faction

How often do you think GMs should host events?

2 Big serverwide ones per Month, 2 small serverwide events per 2 weeks (like the CO car race I proposed), and as many small events GM wants per week (like shops)

Do you understand and accept the following clause: I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, I will not abuse my powers, and I will not break the Gamemaster rules.

Yes

Do you understand the basics of using ULX? List what you know.

Yes, I know how to use the Menu, and many of the basic things in ULX. I do have experience using ULX, because I had staff on sandbox servers.

DM me on discord if anyone has any questions regarding the content of the app

I'm gonna -1 for now based off of your events.

1. I know you say it's a restaurant but its essentially a shop event and those aren't highly praised in the GM community. For a TGM however its a decent event to get your feet wet with commands but do not make it a common thing.

2. This one is good however I think it would be better to have the flags be inside small FOB's near/outside the base rather than inside the base itself. Also 5 times to win may be a bit high and could cause the event to go on for too long but otherwise good event.

3. Instead of a CO only race why not have anyone participate to represent the faction? You mainly want events to include as many people as possible unless the reason for CO only is that maybe they can be trusted a bit more.

To change my -1 to a +1 either make a whole new event for 1. or tweak 2./3. but I feel like you have some good potential, good luck hope to see you on the team.

-1 events seem bare bones.

The new events are pretty solid, and are pretty thought through. I appreciate the exposition and the layering of the events.

Event number 1, while it is somewhat still a shop in essence, has been adapted to have a full event attached to it first, and that's pretty awesome.

Event number 2, is a pretty cool revamp. It's got mechanics and a very definitive goal that both sides can strive towards. Only issue might be to monitor the event, since plenty of eyes will be needed, and it might be a little cumbersome for the server, or hard to explain to players. If executed properly, though, I feel it would be pretty great!

I like the dedication you have to event number 3. It's goofy, it's fun, and overall seems lighthearted and just trying to give a good time. My only thing is that: sometimes COs are really opposed to even hosting event DBs, or really participating in events. I've especially had opposition from Combine COs. Getting the COs to play, and getting a CmD to deliver a speech sounds difficult, and... unlikely to happen. Still, I think it's a fun event, despite that deep down I'm not too sure on how willing either side would be to just sit down for 15 minutes and drive in a few circles.

Regardless, opinion has changed to more of a +1. Not fully there, but it's just about!

Oh yeah, or write new events on this one ofc-

I have recieved all of your guys criticism, and have changed every event to have a story, a more fleshed out concept and a bit more content. I still used same themes for both the events 1. and 3., but added a different execution and extra stuff added to it.
I hope these remade events will change your guy's mind about my app, and change your -1 to a +1
