If there is going to be a storyline, its got to be done right and in a way that doesn't really interfere. Like you can do big picture things, but no real small scale nitty gritty.
Well there is Lore for the server, then there's the stories of the server. I'd say if you want to make an official story of events why not, but get it accurate.

It would be nice to have a collection of all the big events, tied into all of the small 'player events' (as i like to call them). all those tiny things that the people who play the server created, like the anarchist factions, certain civs/anarchists that created giant movements that changed the server, or even just the times that officers remember their predecessors by.
I doubt lore is that important, to be fair. - Unless we had continuous events surrounding an ongoing and developing world, with specific recurring themes and characters, I doubt it would matter much.
