What is your reason(s) for applying for Gamemaster?
I would like to bring a bit more fun and enjoyment to the server, rewarding those who actively participate in events. I also want a bit of a break from doing solely staff related things on the server, and I feel like joining the GM team would give me that freedom to mess around and have it make an impact on the community, at least a little bit.
Have you ever been Event Staff or something similar before? If so, list your previous positions.
I used to be Senior GM on a darkrp server, Vortex RP, around July-August of 2021. I double positioned on that server, being both SGM and Junior Administrator.
I was an admin on Chillbox GMS for 2 years from 2018 to 2020.
Describe how you react to negative feedback, from constructive criticism to borderline harassment.
To constructive criticism, I would take someone's words into consideration, maybe asking others their thoughts on an event, before noting it down and saving it to remind myself of what to do or not to do the next time I host an event.
To borderline harassment, the simplest way of dealing with it is just to ignore it. If someone isn't going to sit down and explain why something was unenjoyable, and their suggestions to make it better, then their opinion really isn't worth listening to, and much less worth fighting against. If it doesn't stop, simply take administrative action :trol:
While planning a server-wide Event you realized that it would make hosting it much easier if you had another Gamemaster assisting you, and manage to get someone to help. Unfortunately 5 minutes before the Event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed?
If it was a server-wide, really important and high-population event, I'd try to get any other staff or GMs on the server to help. If nobody's available, just reschedule it. If I can manage to get someone, then I'll give them details on the event, rules, etc, and tell them what to do.
While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react?
In the event that my dumbass doesn't head to singleplayer to test it out with the CvR content like I'm supposed to, I would clip the last 5 minutes before immediately telling Sentinel what I was doing with the NPCs, and avoid doing it again. I could use the clip to show exactly what I did as the server crashed. Objective: Survive.
An NCO has finished training a Recruit, but there are no COs or Staff online to provide the whitelist. What do you do?
give them pc and lor whitelist lolo
I'm an NCO on both sides myself, and staff. I can safely whitelist them for union/rf
While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react?
I've done this before and I'll do it again-
I would let them destroy the computer before planting a 'code' somewhere nearby the door, anywhere within 25-50 meters from the door. Once the team stuck outside the door has recovered the code, they can use the code to permanently crack the door open, leaving it open for the rest of the event, unless another situation arises in RP context where they can close the door again. This latter part usually doesn't happen, but that's what I would do if it did happen.
While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation?
KILL
Realistically, I would cancel the event, talking to the CmD or MAJ about why they did what they did. A commander and major should have enough respect to know that even if a server-wide event sucks in their eyes, convincing other people to not participate results in the event spiraling into being unfun for either side. Talk to their DvL or Colonel about it afterwards, as that's a real dick move.
After hosting a server-wide Event, you are in the middle of a post-event Debrief when the COs present tell you to stop hosting your DB so they can host theirs. How do you react?
Let them take over the DB after I've finished explaining the event's outcome, handing out a master token reward and leaving them be.
What permissions do Gamemasters have, both inside and outside of Events?
Inside of an event, the GM hosting has full jurisdiction over what happens with the event, though have certain guidelines that all GMs have to follow. Outside of events, as described earlier, GMs can whitelist recruits, take GM-based tickets, and are otherwise normal players. No abuse!11!1!
While preparing to host an Event, you notice that there are 3 vehicles deployed, and that the server is lagging a bit because of that. What do you do?
Assuming it's high-pop, with the server lagging, I just tell people not to spawn vehicles during the event. If they need a big push, give them an assassin or EOD/OSS that can be used under certain circumstances.
Describe your design process of Events prior to queuing them.
- Write down a few ideas I have
- Refine the ideas after putting them into a google document
- Get a second opinion on my ideas, and pick out the best one of them
- Queue it in the GM section
Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is appreciated, and a lack of details will be penalized.
1. A group of rogue rebels, not allied with the resistance, but having a burning hatred for the combine, have taken over an R&D lab in the sewers on C13. They plan to engineer high explosive energy weapons capable of taking out the citadel. Their radio transmissions have been intercepted by the combine's AIU. Two squads of 6 combine have been given orders to find the rogue resistance, eliminate them, and bring the weapons research back to base. [COMBINE ONLY]
2. A broken, but repairable T90 and KA-52 have been spotted near the outskirts of Pripyat, leaving it open for either side to cease control of the building, giving both vehicles time to repair to operating potential, and RTB with their prize. Helicopter and tank will have separate timers, leaving room for the tank to be taken by one side, and the helicopter to be taken by the other. [SERVER-WIDE]
3. A large gathering of OTA and EOW NPCs have gathered at the docks in C13, protecting incoming airdrop shipments of materials. After the wave of NPCs have been killed, several scrap piles will fall from the sky (be spawned by me), letting rebels harvest the resources and defend against a second wave of EOW who lost contact with the first team. NPCs will be spawned in towards the combine tunnel and make their way to the docks to attempt to take over the point. After the second wave, another shipment of scrap will drop. A third and final wave of combine NPCs, including a few less EOW NPCs and myself in an APC being used for combat. After the APC and NPCs are defeated, they will all be rewarded with a master token, along with one final material shipment.
How often do you think GMs should host events?
Server-wide events: Once every week
Small events (shops, isolated events): At least once a week, once a day would be really cool, but that's just goals.
Do you understand and accept the following clause: I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, I will not abuse my powers, and I will not break the Gamemaster rules.
