Why do you want to be part of the staff team? Must be at least 3 sentences. I would like to join the staff team for a few reasons, the first of which being my understanding of the rules, what is right from what is wrong, and my past experience at staffing. I've been, as most of us probably have been at least once, staff on a plethora of different servers; including GMod DarkRP, DayZ, and Arma 3. I want to help out other players who deal with situations that a lot of us go through, ranging from the most braindead RDM sits to being the deciding factor in whether or not the SU or MACE is allowed to do this or that. CvR is a place to have an enjoyable PvP experience, and inconveniences that arise from either rulebreakers or players' confusion on the rules take away from that fun. I want to help other players in dealing with any situation that they might not understand or are upset about.
Why should you be accepted on the staff team? Must be at least 3 sentences. As stated before, I have a lot of experience when it comes to staffing. I've been around for nearly a year, so players know who I am to a certain degree, giving me the advantage of trust when it comes to situations that I have to be serious in. I've been active on the server for almost the entire time I've been playing, since April of this year. I can be either a really chill, laid back person, and I can be serious when I need to be. Putting on a serious or caring face during any staff interaction gets it across to players that I mean what I say, and that I know what I'm talking about. I have a good understanding of how ULX works, how to gather information, and the procedures and precautions I need to take before making a big decision, e.g banning a player. I know to record or clip my interactions so that evidence is undeniable. I genuinely want to do good and improve this community as much as I can, and becoming part of the staff team seems like the perfect opportunity that I've been debating for a while.
Do you understand that you must have "[DEFN]" tag in your Steam name whenever you join CvR?I do.
Any staff who can vouch for you?Alma and Icepack for sure. There's probably others, but I won't push my luck.
An MPF Union kills a Civilian but you don't know the reasoning behind the killing.
What do you do?Search through any logs to see if the killing was justified. If I can't find any evidence, then I would ask the union and civilian individually to get both sides of the story. In the event that it was an unjustified kill, I'd see if it's a regular occurrence using logs, and if he'd like action to be taken. Reason being that crossfire is very common, and it could be a simple case of that, leading to a verbal for the Union to try and have better trigger discipline. If it was a deliberate and intentional kill, the end result would be different.
An H.E.C.U. Soldier enters the Combine base to "RP defect".
How do you proceed as a staff member?Either slay the HECU or drag them away to a separate, safe-for-sit area to inform them that RP defecting doesn't exist on here, and that if they don't want to be recorded/screenshotted walking into Combine base and possibly sent to their COs, then they should refrain from doing it again.
You find a SU/MACE CO infiltrating without notifying their team in chat. You bring them into a sit to talk to them about breaking the rules. In this sit the CO threatens to demote your RP character if you don't let them go.
How do you handle this?In the event that the threat is not a joke, and instead an actual threat, I would let them know that if they're not willing to listen and take into consideration that they have to inform their team about infiltrating despite their rank, then I can just warn them on the spot, recording or clipping the interaction in its entirety. Afterwards, I would try to find their higher-up COs, either their CmD/Major and talk to them about their interaction. They are a CO, and should know by now not to break SU/MACE specific rules in regards to infiltrating, so if they do, hopefully their higher-ups can stamp it into their brain.
A group of players comes onto the server and threatens to DDOS or raid it.
What do you think you should do? I would gather every player's STEAMID32, recording or clipping the little time they're on the server before banning them for as long as I can, taking it to someone with the ability to permanently ban them, as DDOS threats are not taken lightly, and they will receive the punishment associated with their behavior. Screenshotting and recording is the easiest way to gather a ton of information in a short period of time, along with snagging their STEAMIDs, so this will make my job a lot easier.
You see a high ranking staff member doing something questionable, but you don't know if it is allowed.
What do you do? I would first check any sort of rules or staff guides that I have available to me, seeing if what they're doing is allowed or not. If it's not, then keep recording and see where they go with it, taking it to someone above them and making it apparent what they're doing. Abuse of power is kinda fucked, and I don't like to see it.
I think you have the potential to be a good staff member based solely on your activity and attitude. I think you could grow more in a few respects but will undoubtedly be a welcome addition to the team. You're trustworthy enough to have the responsibility.
