RF PVT Kylina What is your current in game level? 79. Discord Username: FinnTheBee Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:65156785 What region/timezone are you located in? BST (GMT next month due to clock change) Do you have a microphone? Yup! Previous warns or bans? None. Why do you want to be a Gamemaster? The main reason for me wanting to be a gamemaster is to provide fun events that involve everyone on the server. I also believe becoming a GM would help me get to know more people thus making events that would involve certain characters on the server to try and get some RP going which we rarely see. Have you ever been Event Staff/Gamemaster or something similar before? If so, list your previous positions and describe something notable you did in those positions. I've been a GM Helper on SWRP servers. It would mainly just be assisting the people holding the event with spawning in enemies, playing as characters, etc. The most noteable thing I did on one of these servers was assisting in a map change event where the rebeliion did a full assault on the ISD and I was in charge of controlling how many units each area recieved to balance out pacing. Describe how you react to negative feedback, from constructive criticism to borderline harassment. All feedback is helpful regardless if it comes off negative. I would simply keep note of it and try to improve for the future events I host. If I recieved straight up harrassment for hosting a bad event or messing up during it, I would simply just report it to a staff member and maybe another Senior GM to explain what happened. While planning a server-wide event, you had another Gamemaster assisting you. Unfortunately, 5 minutes before the event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed? It would depend on how large the event is. If it was a smaller event I'm sure I could either find another GM or just solo it as to not ruin any ideas people had for the event. If it was a larger event I would see if anyone else is free to help and if not, reschedule it as I want people to have fun and not experience a messy event. While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react? During my testing I would keep notes of how the server handles what i'm doing, that way I would know for a fact to avoid either spawning said NPC or reducing the numbers to stabilise the server. After doing this I would tell other GM's and get their input on it. While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react? As to not break immersion, I would simply roleplay that destroying the computer causes the door to malfunction along with any other electronics/devices connected to the computer. If the CO continued to do things that would ruin the event or prevent the other side from experiencing it I would report it to the relevant parties. While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation? I would ask why they dislike it and that in future, not to sabotage whatever I had planned and to simply come to me about it, trying to come to a conclusion. If said person continued to do this in the future I would report it. While you are hosting an event, you notice that the server starts to lag dramatically. What do you do? I would check that if I had still props spawned in that wasn't needed and go from there. If it continued to lag I would try to resolve it as fast as I can for server health by deleting whatever I've spawned in. Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is greatly appreciated.
1. Rebels have intercepted a cargo transported heading towards a Combine HQ within the outlands. The Rebels decide to hijack the convoy and continue heading towards the HQ to gather intelligence. During the journey, one of the Rebels gets curious and investigates the cargo which, unfortunely, was holding a unique headcrab specimen. The headcrab latches onto the Rebel and turns them, killing everyone within the convoy and leaving with nothing but blood soaking their body.... This isn't your average zombie... The specimen prowls the region near the HQ, reports of Combine being attacked by a hulking mass of flesh reaches the Combine HQ. Overwatch advises units to contain the area and capture the specimen for testing....
Another GM would be playing as the Zombie while I spectate and give directions and hints to both sides, trying to get the heavier units of the Combine to capture the unit and Helix to study the specimen near HQ. I would also be giving Rebels hints and drops of info with how they can potentially use this to their advantage and either destroy the specimen or capture it for their own needs. It would essentially be a "capture the target" event with higher stakes due to the unique specimen being tanky and packing a mean punch.
2. The Combine have captured high ranking members of a local Resistance Cell and are planning to extract all infomation out of them before liquidating them, causing a huge blow to the Resistance. It's up to the Combine to defend the prisoners and the Rebels to rescue them and safely bring them back to HQ. Whoever wins will get rewarded with RES and whatever else they feel is rewarded by their respective HC.
For this event. I would either be a prisoner with another person I could trust or simply spectate and have either willing members of Rebel HC participate or have a two trusted people play as the prisoners as I watch the event go down.
3. An unknown message is broadcasted to both sides of the war, telling them of a large resource deposit within the region.. The Combine and Rebels deploy with everything they've got and head towards the location, coming face to face with each other when suddenly both sides are ambushed by a group of unknown, shady indivuals in heavy armour. Both sides are pinned down and have no way of surviving this unless they act correctly. Will The Combine and Rebels put aside their differences for now to deal with this unforseen threat or will this new third party get what they want? It's in fates hands now..
This would be a large scale event, needing multiple GM's. The Third Party would be considerably stronger than both sides armour and hp wise but with no ground or air support. The main goal of the group is to just cause chaos and prevent either side from winning until they're either pushed back or wiped out with the combined efforts of The Combine and Rebels. Do you understand the basics of using ULX and how to build in gmod? I am familiar with building, I've had some experience with ULX kinda but I could do with a refresher.
