I played GRID now for 3 days and I‘m absolutely fine with playing it. What I personally would recommend tho is to actually to give GRIDs the FOB Tool. No matter if Enlisted, NCO or CO and get rid off it for other COs if not GRID. Since it doesn’t really make a lot of sense for them to put it down, they can't fortify it nor can they actually build a FOB as a whole when not GRID. I really kinds feel the need to place it down with the tool but since it’s not available up until CO, it kinda bothers me.
Combine can build FOB entity's without a grid if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure the IC rules are just that it needs to be in a defended position, so a pre-existing structure like a house is fine. Additionally the original purpose of FOB entities was to replace Combine squad spawning (with the exception of squad leaders) so limiting it to JUST GRID would make that goal considerably harder. Currently Combine still have squad spawns since Sentinel deemed them not in a position to be able to coordinate around FOB entities effectively right now.
