All people remember is the mass evacuation, the klaxon of sirens and watching the atomic fireball break out into the sky, decimating the Canals.
The heat was something that could not be described with words, only action. Even the feared Overwatch Elite cowered while basking in the precipice of the fireball before them. As if punishment from the heavens for the violence that has plagued the Earth for millennia, the very building blocks of the universe were weaponized against the two massive fighting forces.
Post-Action Investigation revealed it was a group of Anarchists who'd manage to intercept a CWU Plutonium supply truck and torture a captured Rebel scientist to make it for them. They're believed to have been planning it for a year or so.
