If you didn't know, a while back MPs/Jurys used to be able to just take their cap over to a base terminal, push a button, and ether steal a weapon, steal faction res, or brainwash them, and that would be it. From the start of the interrogation, the cap would typically be free to go in less than a minute.
But the rules were changed. Now, Jurys/and MPs are required to some sort of activity with every one of their captures. These activities could be anything from crowbar duels, crucifixion, Squid Games, "Necrotic cells", the blender, some sort of dollar store saw trap... The key thing is that you can't just kill or terminal your cap; you have to go through this whole song and dance first. This rule drags out the time players stuck in cuffs in an attempt to improve their experience.
My question to you guys is, "has it?" Do you enjoy the activities Jury and MP make you do, or would you rather they just get it over with.
As a Jury, I feel like I just can't capture anyone anymore. In order for me to be allowed to cap people, I need to have a GM or a Grid to set up a whole contraption for me, and that just feels like a huge waste of time for everyone involved; so, I don't even bother anymore. I only cuff people to shoot them immediately after or let them go. The only people I do try to bring back to base are people who I can ransom, because the ransoming counts as an activity. But if I lose the interrogation roll for their rank, and they say PVT or something, I am required to release them because I can't do an activity with them anymore.
That question there is something of a trap, and invites bias opinions. Not many people enjoy being captured at all, so most comments about enjoying activities will be slighted towards the dislike of captures in general, rather than feelings about specifically activities. Of course people would rather get it over with, they'd rather not get cuffed at all.
It takes some of the gameplay strategy out of cap classes definitely, and very often it's some uncreative bullshit. However on occasion, it's something fun. Like what happened with the slave camp, I essentially got to play Jailbreak for a bit.
Overall it's something more or less up to the mercy of the community. If they think it's good, keep the rule. If not, go to the old one. I really don't have a definitive opinion on the topic.
Although, there is no worse feeling on the planet when getting capped and hearing that a TR is coming over for interrogation
I love the labor camps. But they are more of events. They are only possible during a Jury/MP MD and require a GM's full attention.
Large scall activity events like this could continue even if an activity for every cap is no longer required.
I think it's more of we just never thought of it. It wasn't us being forced to do activities, but rather us being told that we even could even do such a thing. Thats what gave way to the creativity that made the prison camps.
The idea of event activities and prison camps are out there now, and it's mainly the COs and GMs (cool dudes) who are responsible for making these event activities happen. You can usually just ask nicely to get them to do something.
The point is: event activities (as I'm calling them) can be made to continue (if they won't continue naturally (which I doubt)) if activities are no longer required for ever capture.
