What is your reason(s) for applying for Gamemaster?

I want to become a Gamemaster because I would like to host events on the server and make the experience better for everyone. It brings me joy to host events and make exciting gameplay for all players.

Have you ever been Event Staff or something similar before? If so, list your previous positions.

No, I have not.

Describe how you react to negative feedback, from constructive criticism to borderline harassment.

When it comes to constructive criticism, I always strive to improve myself and I believe I am capable of seeing into my own mistakes and owning up to them.
I have the ability to stay calm even when it comes to borderline harassment.

While planning a server-wide Event you realized that it would make hosting it much easier if you had another Gamemaster assisting you, and manage to get someone to help. Unfortunately 5 minutes before the Event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed?

I would attempt to quickly get help from another Gamemaster, or if none are available maybe a staff member that can assist me (if its something simple like "timing"). If I can't get contact immediately, I will ask the people to wait shortly and attempt to do so for maybe another 5-10 minutes. If there are still none available, I will still host the event unless it is unable to be hosted without assistance.

While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react?

I will immediately contact Sentinel and tell him about the server crashing, and that it occurred after my actions. And of course give as much information as possible that might be useful to identify if that was the underlying cause.

An NCO has finished training a Recruit, but there are no COs or Staff online to provide the whitelist. What do you do?

They should be able to whitelist recruits if they are on an NCO whitelist. If they can't for some reason, I will whitelist the recruit.

While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react?

It could be considered a creative play in the event, so I would tolerate it but it should stay balanced in some sort (e.g. the door being able to be opened forcibly somehow, still).

While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation?

Record evidence, bring it to the attention of the staff team and ask them for assistance.

After hosting a server-wide Event, you are in the middle of a post-event Debrief when the COs present tell you to stop hosting your DB so they can host theirs. How do you react?

I will ask them to wait until the post-event Debrief is over.

What permissions do Gamemasters have, both inside and outside of Events?

Inside their events they have authority over the event and its actions and can put restrictions on gameplay (e.g. "no handpicked allowed for this event").

Outside of events, they can add elements of RP as long as it does not disrupt gameplay (basically like Trusted).

While preparing to host an Event, you notice that there are 3 vehicles deployed, and that the server is lagging a bit because of that. What do you do?

I will ask them if they can scrap their vehicles before the event begins.

Describe your design process of Events prior to queuing them.

First, I brainstorm an idea that seems cool and appropriate to the current flow of gameplay on the server. For that purpose I would take a look at the player numbers as well as active combatants.
Meaning, if theres 20 Combine and 20 Rebels online, but 12 Combine are AFK, and all 20 Rebels are actively playing, it will make a difference to the designing of the event.

After that I would just write up a draft of how the event should play out on notepad++ or word on a second screen, going with the progress and also what happens when side A does that or side B does that. (Example: Event about capturing a point and collecting an item: If faction A captures the point, they will get the location of the item 3 minutes earlier than faction B so they actually get something from being successful in that part. And the first faction to collect the item wins)

Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is appreciated, and a lack of details will be penalized.

1. The Vortessence Anomaly: An anomaly in the local continuum has occurred, likely a late event from the resonance cascade. At a specific location of the map, an unstable crystal has appeared and begins letting in unstable lifeforms and dangerous objects that fall from the sky. The crystal must be stabilized by holding the area. Every 3 minutes the area is consecutively held by one faction, that faction will gain one point. This being defined by the moment a faction is completely filled with members of only one faction at the point and at least 3 members of the faction stay alive over the three minutes (being revived will not count). The first faction to gain 5 points will stabilize the crystal and gain 15000 resources from the Vortessence as a thank you.

2. G-Mans offer: G-Man appears and states that whichever faction locates him first and escorts him to their base, will be given a job offer. The faction will have to pick a person to be given the job offer. The job offer would be to transport 4 elemental crystals at their appropriate locations on the map. They are indicated by the crystal of fire, crystal of water, crystal of earth and crystal of air. There are four platforms. Once a crystal touches the platform, it will become unbreakable and can not be moved away. Since the crystals are unstable, there is a 15 minute time-limit until they disappear. Should all crystals be placed within the 15 minute time-frame, the chosen person will gain great strength (5000 HP and an extra 100 HP for each minute left on the timer as well as an weapon of their choice, inventory weapons only). The faction with the chosen player will have to find the locations of the crystal themself. Once there are only two crystals remained to be placed, the opposing faction will be given the location of the crystal points.

3. Incoming shipment: A shipment with resources is inbound and the location is heavily fortified. The shipment is closed off by a power field that can only be opened by hacking it. To hack it, a faction will have to hold the area for 10 minutes total. Combine and Rebels each have an individual timer. Once the timer for one faction reaches zero, that faction can choose to turn off the power field at any time. The moment it is turned off, the package with resources will be lying around and can be moved. The first faction to bring it to their base into a shipment-opening-machine will win the event and receive 10000 resources.

How often do you think GMs should host events?

As often as they can be hosted as long as it does not break the normal gameplay loop. If we are talking about a single GM, I guess an event per week is appropriate as a guideline, but more often if they can.

Do you understand and accept the following clause: I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, I will not abuse my powers, and I will not break the Gamemaster rules.

I understand.

Do you understand the basics of using ULX? List what you know.

Since I am already an administrator, I have wide knowledge of ULX.
I believe this statement suffices and I don't think it's necessary to write up my knowledge at this point.

(Question about the second event: "How will it be ensured that the person assigned the job will be the only one looking for the locations? I'm certain the entire team will be tempted to look." Completely inconsequential, though, since the event is still awesome)

Good question. Although I did not write it down, I think it would be appropriate to let it play out like the way you said. I imagined a scenario where both teams would be looking for the crystal platforms and end up fighting at those zones, which would make combat more exciting and give scout / quick jobs something nice to do, especially at the final platform!
