What is your suggestion?
A: Change the Rocket lock-on from being alerted when a missile locks on to a vehicle. To instead alert the pilot of the vehicle when they are in the process of being locked onto by a RPG. Similar to GTA where you hear a beeping noise when youre being locked onto by a rocket launcher.

How would this benefit the server?
A: It would allow OVA and Tech to prepare for an incoming missile and divert their attention to finding and eliminating the heavy/ballista and would give vehicles better lifespan and more of a chance to fend off Rebel Heavies/Ballista.

This was changed a while back to help out HVY's / Ballistas, I think

Idk how it is for ova vs hvy, but ballista vs tech is a shitshow, can only hit one in 5 lockons

This is only a problem with aircraft. Fights against ground vehicles are generally pretty fun.
The challenge is making good counter play for both sides, and balancing control of engagements in a fun and balanced way.
As a HVY/Ballista, it can be impossible to get lock or avoid dying, especially with how big heil rocket explosions are. Even if you do get a lock, once the missile is in the air you have no control over it; It's up to chance if it hits or not.
And as a OVA/Tech, you often get put in situations where you get hit no matter what you do.

Proper positioning can work wonders instead of running out into an open field to get a good lockon. And thats false. You can manipulate the rocket trajectory by pulling your cursor off to the side to get a different lockon trajectory. This *or* requiring a heavy/ballista to crouch first before they can fire the RPG would actually encourage proper positioning and get rid of the arcadey style gameplay of crouch jumping and movement abuse to avoid being shot.

-1 For obvious reasons.

Requires more effort to use a vehicle. (look instead of listening when you don't pay attention)

(forgor to say skill issue)

Because of how fast air vehicles move and how long lock-ons take, you are often forced to put yourself at risk to keep a sight line and get a lock-on. Standing still often means the heli flys behind something, so you effectively need to chase it. Still, often times your run speed is just too slow, and you lose lock anyway.

While you can aim a bit off of your target while firing to change the path of the rocket, the effect is minimal and very rarely actually matters. Regardless I was correct in what I said: once it's in the air you have no sway on what happens. To you, it might as well be a dice roll if it hits or not.

Getting "proper positioning" isn't realistic.
Because of how fast they move, and the fact that they are not constrained to roads like ground vehicles, heils can appear over you in an instant without warning. Air vehicles usually show up, rain hell, and fly away all within 10 seconds. You are usually caught in a bad spot with very little time to do anything about it. The only thing you can do is try to take any shot you can get before you ether die, or they fly away.
Even if you do get in a good spot, like on its back side or behind cover, you aren't that much better off any way. Heils are extremely maneuverable and fast. They can whip around and do a 180 in an instant. And they can usually wrap around any cover you have faster than you can and/or just blast you out of it.
As an RPG class this is just something you have to put up with. But let's say you want to play super optimally, and employ some of that "proper positioning". What do you do? Well, I can tell you from my experience that the best way to survive long enough to get a lock-on is to simply not be noticed by the pilot.
In practice, getting "proper positioning" means camping in a bush or some other spot and waiting for the chance that the heil might fly over you. And from your bush, you land a rocket before the pilot ever gets a chance to react. I don't need to tell you this isn't a fun experience for either party; it's not a strategy I want to encourage.

Making full use of your movement is your only real tool to stay alive. Nerfing movement while using RPGs would not be fun to put it lightly.
