This has always been my biggest gripe with the foot soldier classes of CvR. I've always had to stay close to people, or atleast close enough to where im am constantly in range of them spraying me down. The SPR cannot compete unless I catch them off guard and I get the second and third shot in if necessary depending on their health and armor. If I fail to take shots quickly and accurately, I'm punished for that because they can spray me at a pretty good range without fail. Even with a bolt speed build, it's still takes a lot of skill to challenge people consistently.

Edit:
With the latest updates, I dont really feel as strongly anymore about my viability. However I will state that I still think it's stupid I have to be within range of everyone else and still have glint on at all times from every range.

Can agree despite my somewhat limited CROSS playtime. I had to run damage perks and max bolt cycling speed and consistently hit double headshots to get kills, and was very frustrating if you got beamed while trying to engage from a distance. To my understanding, the SPR has only gotten worse over time. I think a good middle ground should be being able to 1 head 1 body shot most HP thresholds without requiring damage perks. This gives the class a skill ceiling, without making it a "didnt react to the CROSS aiming at me in 1 milisecond and now im dead" type of situation. With the bolt cycling speed, you should be relatively fine, you can get two shots out quite quickly, and you usually shouldn't be getting beamed too far away unless one of the previously talked about things I mentioned is involved.
