What is your suggestion?
The inclusion of two new whitelists, one for the Combine and one for the Rebels, that is similar in function to how both OSE and Vortigaunts work.
This will be a whitelist where there is no ranks, no internal organization, and may be used at any time by only VIP users.
While I do not recommend any Workshop content to be added into the server, there is a caveat of requesting another version of both the Stunstick and Crowbar be made for the purpose of balancing these classes to do more melee damage than what is currently considered standard; but even then, perhaps there is a way to circumvent this entirely with the inclusion of a perk like Wrecker being already applied to these whitelists as well that can then be further increased by actually equipping Wrecker should the player so desire.
As there are many ways we could go about balancing these whitelists, I will recommend some potential ideas within the proposed loadouts below:
• Weighted Crowbar (+33% Swing Speed, -25% Melee Damage)
• 400 HP
• Increased movement speed (330 HU)
• 0 Max Weight
How would this benefit the server?
It would further incentivize players to support the server and the community by adding new benefits to the VIP package.
Besides this, it would allow players to approach a unique playstyle with more viability and support outside of perks.
Imo the reason why most people buy VIP is not for the sole purpose of playing the VIP classes, but by the fact that you can have 4 character total instead of 2, tho I've seen some cases where 1 or 2 people bough VIP just for the classes (remaining disappointed by the mediocrity of such classes and never touch the server again), you see, that's a perfect example of players playing just for their own gain: "I play OSE because i don't want to do ACs" "I just want to play the game" "(old claim but they indeed did it in 2022) Lord of Cinder synergi works on Vort, I will call another guy to play Vort with me so we can burn eachother and become unkillable just to distract the enemies".
Many of which have turned out to be toxic (some even got their VIP status revoked).
These kind of players (many of which are returning players) will never contribute to the community.
By either adding new classes or replacing OSE and Vort, you are indirectly encouraging people on playing the game just for their own gain, in a particularly annoying way, and to not contribute to the community.
The snowball effect is pretty clear and easy to avoid, OSE and Vort are BAD for a GOOD reason.
(you have more chances on suggesting melee variety among normal classes than complete new classes that honestly do not contribute to the field whatsoever)
Playing OSE or Vortigaunt is you trying to enjoy the simply feeling of how the game is styled or played, no carry items, just a gun/beam attack and some simple stats.
what this man is suggesting is a similar version of the OSE and Vortigaunt except for melee, a class where you can goof around and have fun.
you are suggesting people that only play these characters will never contribute to the community when in reality they are, on their other characters, they could be playing these to escape the restrictions of other classes where you got to abide by rules, rank structure, order of command of their division not of the server. etc etc. And as we all know, melee is 2nd most satisfying method of killing enemies on CvR.
if they cant follow the simple rules of the server when playing these classes then they are an flaw that needs to be removed in order to keep the community safe.
+1 (even tho the name Nomad is weird)
also VIP classes are a GREAT way to get returning players back into the game.
Ace wouldn't the weighed Crowbar swing slower due to it... weighing more
Also wouldn't it make more sense to give Combine the faster swinging weapon and the Rebels the slower swinging one as a deviation from their standard melee
I also can't entirely agree with the notion that all VIP classes can't be viable at their current state because you can do some cheeky stuff with Vortigaunt still (I personally run it with Terminator and use a hit-and-run strategy, and pick people off who commit to ADS or slow themselves down for easy vort beam hits)
Anyways in our heart of hearts we know that classes like these won't get added because they are redundant and if you haven't noticed, new classes haven't been added for like 5+ years, which is probably on purpose (this is so we can instead focus on the classes we have right now and build on them instead of expanding and potentially adding bloat)

The most interesting thing in all of this to me at least is the quip about "escaping the restrictions of other classes", but honestly there's already some good venues to do that already, like Anarchist is literally doing whatever the fuck you wanna do lol or you can always just keep a character with a very low amount of responsibilities to mess around with or not feel obligated to do much on
But I do sometimes get that feeling of wanting to play something that is a bit less confining or serious of a role so I can relate to that

I got so frustrated playing OSE yesterday that I stopped playing the server for that day; is that supposed to be how that's set up too?
