Who warned/banned you? doesn't say (edit: it was Sigma but it doesn't say so on my end)
Date of Warn/Ban:
2/17/2022
Ban Length:
Permanent. "Added to ban list" (edit: its actually 6 weeks. Again game is weird)
Warn/Ban Reason: MRDM
So here is the full story. I'll underline what's important.
I was playing sniper. I was trying out the chain reaction synergy (made with sniper, final, and dragonfly) It makes players that are killed by a dragonfly explosion, do a dragonfly explosion. I see that Tech tryouts are about to start and go join them, pass, and become T10 Tech Sevin. Then there was an event and, I think, two base raids. Helped transport rebels with an APC- good fun. I also spent a lot of time just trying out the shotgun.
So, at this point it's been 3 hours, 2 base raids, an event, and a lot ofgoogle doc memorizing since I last even looked at my inventory; much less thought about my perks. There was then some sort of db (i think for the event). Anyway, pretty much all of rebel just congregated right in front of the DB room for some reason. I was hanging out too. I walk up to an RU and he says, "Do it. No balls." (apparently he was talking to someone else?) Jokingly, like a dumbass, I shoot him; in the head.
Boom. With a single click I accidentally kill about 10 rebels. I had completely forgot about the perks I used on sniper.
Why should we remove warn/ban? It was accident. An honest to God accident.
Okay so this is the part where I go on a rant about how good of a person I am to get you to believe me.
I'm a long-time player. So long I don't even know when I joined, but I was at least there for when weapon ranks were still a thing.
I've played major/key helper rolls in many events.
I have contributed a lot to the community on the forms. I shared the synergies I've found. I've made many suggestion-posts trying to make CvR the best game it can be. I also found the exp for lv up formula, calculated it for every level, painstakingly graphed it, and have been sharing it since. It was only earlier today did I finish adding the calculator feature. Here take a look CvR lvls v3.0 - JSFiddle - Code Playground (If you find any bugs please tell me)
/me plays the Mr. Dr. Teeth Sex card
Evidence/Other:
I never had a sit. Not a real one anyway. Immediately after the incident, Icepack jailed me. I explained how it happened with single chat message and he seemed to understand- no real discussion. He let me go. Minutes later I get a warn and mere seconds later I was "added to ban list"
+1, Considering you did get CKed, i feel like the warn should be removed because of the amount of times different people have done something similar and have got no punishment. You werent even given a sit to explain the situation.
So I was the one to ban you, it's not a permanent ban rest assured, it's 6 weeks, but I completely understand where you're coming from.
As it applies to the fact that I banned you without any perceivable "due process", that would be because, to put it bluntly, all the evidence I realistically needed was in the kill feed. Mass RDM is Mass RDM, accident or not, and despite your time spent on the server and the dedication you've put into through seeing to its improvement through the forum posts you make, a rule was objectively broken and I had to enforce it. As it applies to applying the rules equally to everyone, a point Dopplah is making above me, I believe it is beyond my moral power to impose bans on people retroactively. My approach is to learn from a past event (the one I'm referencing being Shogun's ban), and procede into the future with such new knowledge. I have to treat mass RDM as mass RDM except in very exceptional cases, which didn't apply here, and your misclick happens to come at a time where we as staff are being questioned regarding how consistently and evenly we apply the rules all around.

Wow... That is the icing on the cake. I just have to point out, and Im not blaming sigma at all here, how fucking atrocious my luck is. Like HOLY FUCKING SHIT. The absolute rube Goldberg machine of just Fucking perfectly timed events for this to happen. This synergy being added, me playing sniper, me getting on at all today, the tech tryouts, the event and the DB, the fact that the Fucking entire rebel faction decided to be at exact place at that exact time. If just a single one of these events didn't transpire or was delayed, I wouldn't have been banned and CK'd (and probably blacklisted) from tech. AND NOW THIS!
I honestly find it pretty damn funny.

There's honestly no one to blame, no one to be angry at besides your left finger. Jokes aside however, like Sigma said, we need to enforce rules equally and to everyone. Regardless if there was a ticket, regardless if it was a mistake. Even if that person is an admin like me, or HeadGM like Aithaed, everyone will get warned if they fuck up. There is no exception to it unlike the old days.
And I'll say this even tho I'm not allowed to, literally every, single, staff that was on at that time were genuinely sad to warn you. Including me even tho it was me who said warn regardless.
+1 frankly, chain reaction is just MRDM waiting to happen, also I honestly don't get why MRDM is so heavily punished, 6 weeks is a bit too long for making people wait 12 seconds then they just come back, not really losing much of anything, thats how you demotivate people from coming back to the server. I think it should be lowered at least, maybe 1-2 weeks.
Personally, I think it’s a terrible idea to have a “MRDM=MRDM, no matter the context” attitude to cases, and I do think cases should be treated differently due to the circumstance under which they happened. Obviously there’s two large cases going on currently, this one and Minishogun’s, and honestly, I don’t think the result of one should determine the other. In the case of minishogun, he knowingly opened fire on a large group of friendlies, with intent to kill them all, I won’t go into large detail here about that because that’s a whole different case involving misinterpretation and orders, but I would expect that to be treated as intentional mass teamkilling, where as in this case Sevin killed a teammate who he thought was daring him to do so, and said teammate was daring someone to kill him, so I think that no punishment should come of that, dumb, intentional, consensual tk happens all the time, and the fact that dragonfly then triggered and killed so many people, I would expect that to be treated asthough he had shot an enemy ranger and dragonfly had triggered, killing a few civvies in the process- that would, or at least should be treated as a crossfire incident. Even if this case is denied and still treated as MRDM, I would like to see some consideration for the events surrounding.
Thus concludes me sharing my opinion that nobody asked for on the internet

Still MRDM in both cases (other shot due to orders interpreted wrong and the other forgot to unequip his perks)
I don't disagree however that the cases should be handled differently with the context provided, but then again a minge could do the same and use this to his advantage.
At the end of the day it lies on the person who decided to point and shoot.

Given the avoidable circumstances of the incident, even if it were an honest to god mistake, your ban will be sustained.
Your ban will expire at 8:20 pm on March 31st.
