I've been playing on the server for over a year now. Needless to say, I like it a lot. I also know we always need more staff to replace those that leave the position for one reason or another and I'd like to do my part for that end. I have several years of experience as a Gmod server administrator going so far as to be the lead admin of an old BuildRP server, though I was much younger back then. With that and my almost-daily activity, I think I'd be a good fit. Also I'm a combine main. Any staff who can vouch for you? Hollow, Mercury, plus some others who aren't around anymore like Lucifer. An MPF Union kills a Civilian but you don't know the reasoning behind the killing.
What do you do? It was probably either crossfire or a legitimate kill. Nonetheless, I'd be cognizant of whether a ticket gets made to then investigate and give a Warn if needed. Somebody had made a ticket saying they passed Sniper applications and that they need it’s whitelist, how would you proceed? I'd check the Sniper roster and/or confirm with a Sniper CO. An H.E.C.U. Soldier enters the Combine base to "RP defect".
How do you proceed as a staff member? I'd TP to Reimu because it was probably him, then explain to him that defecting is not a legitimate RP action. Since Reimu isn't a new player, I would give him a Warn for Solo Baseraid, making sure he understands before returning him. A ticket alleging spawn-camp has been made, and the offending party is a member of cross who was found inside rebel spawn borders, what is the correct course of action?
Before even responding, I'd quickly look to see if he killed someone and scroll up the chat to look for his Scout perms. Assuming he's scouting in accordance with the rules, I'd explain the scouting mechanic to the ticket-maker once I've TP'd to him with my initial information in order. If the CROSS did spawnkill, I'd address him, explain the relevant rule, and give him a Warn for spawnkilling. You find a SU/MACE CO infiltrating without notifying their team in chat. You bring them into a sit to talk to them about breaking the rules. In this sit the CO threatens to demote your RP character if you don't let them go.
How do you handle this? I'd tell him my MACE is already an 09 and challenge him to make me an 010. I would firstly tell him to relax and that its not a big deal. He probably just misclicked his bind or something. I don't think I'd even give a Warn for the lack of a team message initially if its the first time I've seen him do it given how minor the issue is, even though he's a CO and aught to know to take a quick look at the chat box, but I would certainly forward the issue to AIU/LC with screenshots/video if available. A Grid has created a ball that he has encased himself in and is propelling himself forward using the gravity gun, is this breaking any rules? Yes, it's breaking the build rules regarding frozen props. A group of players comes onto the server and threatens to DDOS or raid it.
What do you think you should do? Unless there's a specific protocol for something like this, I'd immediately ban then, copy their steamIDs, and forward the issue to higher-ups as I don't know who would be the specific person to speak with. You see a high ranking staff member doing something questionable, but you don't know if it is allowed.
What do you do? If I'm in doubt, Ill look up the relevant rule. Depending on the severity, I'd either have a quick chat with him and remind him or forward it to the appropriate person. Out of nowhere a random set of numbers resembling an IP has been typed by an NCO has been typed into OOC, what is the correct course of action? Not wanting to immediately jump to conclusions, I'd stop whatever else I'm doing in game, start recording, and gather whatever evidence I can. Name, time, the number itself, etc. If it is an IP address, probably grabbed with wireshark or something, there isn't much that can be done with it by itself. I would keep watch for anything further and address it accordingly.
Unless I'm wrong about this one, in which case I'd hope to be corrected in staff training.
i wanna ask a few things just to jog my memory a bit, have you in the past been someone who gets easily burned out and goes MIA? And how long have you been playing the server actively as of late before submitting this app? Oh and one more thing your formatting is a bit bland, get some cool colors or fonts and don’t make everything bolded, just the questions
I had some wicked burnout at one point, which is of course what you're referring to. Ill explain that. It stemmed from more than CvR after about 10 months of near-daily activity. The added virtual responsibility combined with training a new guy at work with questionable intelligence who nearly crushed me to death with heavy machinery, Search & Rescue business, and a slew of issues regarding being a new homeowner caused a notable buildup. What really caused the issue was me trying to force my way through it to make it to the end. I knew 2 of those issues would be resolved relatively soon and then I'd be fine. Unfortunately the burnout came first. With real life obviously coming before a videogame, and pressing personal matters coming before elective activities, I withdrew from CvR and SaR; the latter more smoothly than the former. Did I deal with it as well as I could've? Certainly not, in hindsight.
For the next question, I've been back since the introduction of the new weapon pack or thereabouts. I can wait and resubmit the app if that's an issue.
I also didn't know much about the formatting commands, but had some fun figuring out some of the stuff I can do.
