What is your suggestion?
A: My suggestion is to add a City Scanner option to GRID and OVA. If no limits are hit for development maybe CLAW Scanners too depending on how the community feels about this suggestion. This is how I think it could work. With scraps collected by CWU workers, we can have an option to craft City Scanners which arent considered "projects" unlike its Manhack counterpart. After its crafted, it could work similar to Manhacks and spawn an entity and we control it. By using the left-click it would take a picture and show it to all combine units. If someone who is apart of the Rebel group it will outline them in a Red color which units can see through walls. To balance this out after having a picture taken of them the rebel will be given an alert that he is visible to units and is given a short 3-5 second speed boost to fall back which would be the smart thing to do. I also think the rebels can have fun too so if a scanner is "destroyed" which would be a state where the scanner would fall to the ground unable to move, the rebels can take that scanner and reprogram it to work against the Combine and do the same thing to them only the Combine don't get a speed boost.

How would this benefit the server?
A: I think this would benefit the server by adding more experience to GRID on OVA to have something new then rather say using manhacks. It's something small, not powerful but does give the Combine an advantage in technology and is a good alternate if MACE isn't on. It also gives tech over on the rebels side to have more fun with what they can do if a scanner is captured.


Also, I'd like to note I completely understand if this cant be added to do development limitations on what they can do. Or if something about this is unbalanced and can be worked around like the small speed boost or the outline of a character through the map.

Neutral leaning towards -1. Pills can cause lag on the server, which makes it kinda iffy to have a recon unit although anyone could just say in teamchat "oh I saw a rebel at (point)". Basically, the city scanner doesn't have a role to fulfill other than cause lag on the server.

I'm not talking about pills, but I do see what you're talking about and how lag could affect it


Also for the teamchat part, this is my way of trying to make it more relaxed on for the team who has this rather than having to stop, find a good hiding spot, open up teamchat and type it out. 1 picture and it shows the area and where the person/people are. Saves time

Scanners create entities and something dev thing that sentinel explained to me in depth but my monkey brain forgets it so tldr, it will create massive amounts of lag. With current dev projects being worked on, this doesn't seem logical to add this to the list when it already comes with a challenge.
