Instead of having piles and piles of common materials why not just add the function to sell them? Not selling them manually to another person but in the inventory a sell option. The market value for your materials is already there so you can get the money right away. I think this would encourage more trading as players could offer the items they would actually need instead of having an overload of the same material.
