What is your reason(s) for applying for Gamemaster?
I'm hoping to bring in new ideas and goon-friendly lore elements to GM events, as well as introduce more "planned improvisation" to events.

Have you ever been Event Staff or something similar before? If so, list your previous positions.

Describe how you react to negative feedback, from constructive criticism to borderline harassment.
So long as the criticism is at least mildly constructive, I generally try to learn from it. Extremely vitriolic or poorly thought-out criticism, however, I tend to just shut out entirely.

While planning a server-wide Event you realized that it would make hosting it much easier if you had another Gamemaster assisting you, and manage to get someone to help. Unfortunately 5 minutes before the Event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed?
@ for potential help and prepare for the inevitable reaction bottlenecks when it comes to more complicated and map-wide events that multiple GM's would be needed for.

While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react?
Ideally I'd just do this in the Dev server to avoid this problem entirely, but I'd of course apologize for it, before trying to figure out why the crash happened in the Dev server, contacting Sentinel after some initial testing.

An NCO has finished training a Recruit, but there are no COs or Staff online to provide the whitelist. What do you do?
NCOs can provide the whitelist themselves; I've done it a few times. If somehow they just leave afterwards instead of giving the rct the whitelist and no NCO's are online other than them? Sure, I'd grant it.

While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react?
Change it to an extreme defensive situation as the Combine attempt to hotwire the door to get the reward themselves before a bomb goes off that would destroy the 'door' and what's behind it. And, emphasize to leadership that it's because they realized it was a combine munitions depot on the other side rather than something the Rebels could use, which they could then pass down.

While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation?
Ask that side to call a CTA, ask other members to continue the event passively, and attempt to resolve the issue 1:1 with the person in question. If they refuse, then it's no longer my problem as it would be viciously unreasonable to expect them to continue what they're doing without consequences (i.e. demotion). If there's a major issue to them that I could fix or compromise on, then I'd do just that.

After hosting a server-wide Event, you are in the middle of a post-event Debrief when the COs present tell you to stop hosting your DB so they can host theirs. How do you react?
If they're rude about it, refuse outright. Otherwise, just finish up rewards as they do the DB.

What permissions do Gamemasters have, both inside and outside of Events?
Mainly building perms but also moderation and Ulysses perms inside of events and with discretion outside. Probably some other things like whitelisting but I'm unsure.

While preparing to host an Event, you notice that there are 3 vehicles deployed, and that the server is lagging a bit because of that. What do you do?
Limit the vehicles that can be used either by outright disallowing them or only allowing one each of the lower-maintenance vehicles.

Describe your design process of Events prior to queuing them.

  1. Idea(!)
  2. Work out what can be used from idea and what can't
  3. design separate from dev server (HDD go brrr)
  4. lore verification process w/ other gms
  5. Mortar Andie
  6. Test the level of lag when all the assets are put somewhere offmap in the main server
  7. Schedule for the next period of map rotation and/or do immediately and/or consult other gms

Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is appreciated, and a lack of details will be penalized.

1. A member of Resistance leadership has stolen a powerful new Combine Tank, however, in the process, the Combine crippled the movement of the vehicle. While extremely high in health and firepower, especially resistant to bullets, it's a sitting duck to Combine forces. Stop them from setting up checkpoints and clear the way for the tank as it returns to home base from elsewhere on the map.

2. An Anarchist group known as 'New Eden' stole genetic scramblers for a new serum that would have allowed the Combine to do things SUs could only dream of when it comes to infiltration. Hosts to the serum become extremely sociopathic and capable of copying the identities of people they're near, including Combine. Their goal? Complete replacement of all Combine and "Pre-chrysali" left on Earth. The solution? Complete eradication of this genetically-engineered threat. Keep your eyes sharp, stay paranoid, and try not to shoot the wrong person. And guard those rockets! (Basically a defensive/eradication event with a bunch of anarchists being given the disguise tool for both teams.)

3. The Combine have recovered a shotgun by the name of "Annabelle" from Ravenholm after tracking Freeman's paths of travel. According to SU infiltrators, the gun is acclaimed for it's psychosis-inducing properties and seemingly indestructible nature. R&D is fuming over the lost chance at investigating the supernatural item, possibly discovering ways to undo the chaos rent upon the world by the events at Black Mesa. One could consider it a relic. Even if it isn't a holy one, it's certainly worth the Crusade needed to pull it from their clutches. Prepare for a raid- one doesn't follow in Freeman's footsteps without consequences.

How often do you think GMs should host events?
I think we should incorporate some more unique cookie-cutter events similar to Factory or Meth-lab into the game to allow for perhaps even daily events, even if they're not all extremely planned out.

Do you understand and accept the following clause: I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, I will not abuse my powers, and I will not break the Gamemaster rules.
I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, nor will I abuse my powers or break Gamemaster rules. So help me Gaben.

Do you understand the basics of using ULX? List what you know.

I haven't ever used ULX before, but I don't imagine it would be terribly hard to figure out.
