What is your reason(s) for applying for Gamemaster?
During my time of CvR, ive found that theres a lack of events taking place, as well as finding it hard to find GM thats are willing to assist me in things like CWU events or other. I want to become a GM so I can use my time to help others spend less time waiting on someone to assist them, and more time playing the game. Also because I really like hosting events and doing fun shit with ULX.
Have you ever been Event Staff or something similar before? If so, list your previous positions.
I have been staff in some other servers, one of which being an RP server where I acted as a GM aswell, hosting convoy events and things like that for the players.
Describe how you react to negative feedback, from constructive criticism to borderline harassment.
Constructive criticism, of course I would take as exactly that, just criticism and suggestions on how to make my events fun. Now things like harassment and such I would take up with administrators about what to do with them.
While planning a server-wide Event you realized that it would make hosting it much easier if you had another Gamemaster assisting you, and manage to get someone to help. Unfortunately 5 minutes before the Event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed?
If they are unable to help, I would quickly get back onto the discord and tell everyone that im short handed and anyone who is willing to hop on, should get in before it starts and proceed as normal. Hopefully someone would come but if not I would try and power through it.
While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react?
I would instantly constant sentinel about what happened, what did it, and about the server crash so he can get it back up and running as soon as possible.
An NCO has finished training a Recruit, but there are no COs or Staff online to provide the whitelist. What do you do?
NCO whitelists can whitelist now, so he would just do it himself.
While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react?
I would try and create a new way for the other team to get in, like breaching said door with explosives or finding another way around.
While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation?
I would simply bring it up with him in private DMs, asking him about why he thought this wassnt a good event, and possibly contact leadership about what they did.
After hosting a server-wide Event, you are in the middle of a post-event Debrief when the COs present tell you to stop hosting your DB so they can host theirs. How do you react?
I would tell them that they can host their DB afterwards, and that I need to continue with my DB.
What permissions do Gamemasters have, both inside and outside of Events?
GMs mainly have permissions to do things like turning CWU into scanners, re-coloring stolen vehicles, and assisting with non-admin stuff that still require ULX. In events GM would be there to assist the players with what to do, what they can or canot do, and what they can or cannot deploy.
While preparing to host an Event, you notice that there are 3 vehicles deployed, and that the server is lagging a bit because of that. What do you do?
I would just make an announcement not to spawn any more vehicles if they can, since any more would cause noticable lag and could harm the server.
Describe your design process of Events prior to queuing them.
Well, the first thing in making an event would be knows if that you're doing is something that people would actually want to do. If your event is boring and not fun for the other players, then nobody would want to join you. Once I finish getting the minor details about it done, I would talk it over with any other GMs and ask their imput on how I could make it better and if they would like to assist me with the event. Then once ive gotten that all done, I would set it up and prepare the event.
Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is appreciated, and a lack of details will be penalized.
1. A CWU research base has been destroyed and flooded with hostiles (that being zombies, xen creatures, ect) and both the rebels and the combine want their hands on that research. I would find a nice secluded-ish area to set up a fake destroyed base, and spawn in the hostiles. There would be a terminal that someone would have to roll for to get the thumb drive, and said person must get it back to their base to capture it, like capture the flag.
2. A rebel/combine V.I.P. would enter the field, assumingely carrying high intel with them, and the other team would have to safely capture them. The guarding team would need to escort this VIP to multiple locations around the area, where he would gather the intel and head back to base after a few rounds around the map. The other team would be able to capture him by killing all he guards and forcing him to follow them, however if he does die (which he would have some extended health so he isnt just insta killed in his first fire fight) then both of the teams would have to brawl it out for his info, simular to the last event.
3. My final idea is a bomb assault/defense where one team would need to carry/push a bomb to a point on the map to a hostile controlled base, where they would need to detonate the bomb next to the reactor core, causing a melt down. The defense would have a certain time limit to stop them, and if they are able to stop them and defuse the bomb, then they would win.
How often do you think GMs should host events?
I think there should be around one mini-event every other day, and one major event every week.
Do you understand and accept the following clause: I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, I will not abuse my powers, and I will not break the Gamemaster rules.
I understand.
Do you understand the basics of using ULX? List what you know.
