I think that while you make a historically accurate point without polling consistently (not just once and done, because people's sentiments do have the capability to change) we can't entirely accurately gage public opinion. For all we know, people could be not playing the server right now on these two maps due to the stagnation of gameplay on the two repeating maps in the queue, among other factors.
Also how do we define maps that work? I thought canals v4 was a very good balance between sniper advantage and non-sniper advantage, in fact Sentinel himself added a lot of blockage to provide people great cover from sniper fire. My point is that maps, like outercanals v3, which probably still does have the issue of sniping despite the changes I mentioned, that's a fair point, still has the ability to be updated to create objectively better gameplay.
Textscreens is a pretty irrelevant argument, there are already like 4 of them solely for various roofs near B for the new C13 so I heavily doubt creating a few textscreens is going to be a big issue.

Yeah, the game has changed. The game HAS changed, which means any version of nostalgia you have for a map isn't gonna fit with whatever idea you have. It will be fun for 5 minutes and then you will leave. Then the map will get changed back to the ones that work, however well/poorly they do.
Oldies didn't have to think about the Ninja users or flying cuff classes that lurk outside of your perception.
(PS: For Canals specifically, Scope Glint and Range Falloff means jack shit when the whole map is in range of every AR and snipers can hold sightlines across the whole map from their spawn. That, and the literal majority of the map would need to be blocked off by spawncamp signs)

the reason i dont get on as much as i used to is because the gameplay feels the same as it was a couple months ago, nothing new and exciting is coming out. im sure many new players that have never experienced maps like uprising, canals (even i didnt play canals) and others will enjoy this breath of fresh air compared to the same c13/mainstr cycle thats happening rn, even if ill dislike canals im still excited to try something new

ngl just keep main and canals in its grave, we dont need a stale, worn cougar pussy map or one rife with mistakes. while I do agree the current maps have been getting a tad bit stale, adding ones that people will like for a few days then loath once more wont fix the problem
