A: Bring back old SU and also bring back old vehicle rules.

How would this benefit the server?
SU has suffered a significant decline. While I appreciate the emphasis on more roleplay, SU has lost much of its former impact. Encountering SU today isn't as intimidating as it once was. SU should have the freedom to engage anyone in the field. If I'm behind two EOW with a shield and LMG, and no rebels are around me, I should be allowed to engage them. I should be able to take the risk of exposing myself and engaging in combat. I've been in SU for two months, and unfortunately, it seems that more than one SU is consistently active only during AC checks. Mace and SU should be able to use their abilities freely in the field and not be restricted to mostly roleplay and non-combative roles. SU are no longer as respected as they used to be. In 2019, when I was an SU, I had to compete with 20 other guys for the three spots available. I had to 1v1 everyone in that group, complete a quiz, and carry out an assassination against a high-ranking combine. It was genuinely challenging, and if the three of us who made it to the final stage had failed, we would have been CKed and failed the tryout. In 2024, the tryout was a very basic quiz, followed by an easy sabotage mission not even in the combine base. If I had failed the mission, I would still have been allowed in. We need to elevate SU and MACE to the status of "these guys are the best, DON'T GET IN THEIR WAY." Bring back the SU and MACE from 2019.

Next is my vehicle rule part of this thread. I respect what you guys were aiming for, but unfortunately, it just doesn't work. If I see a Strider on the field, I should be AFRAID, not think, "oh, I'll just not shoot at it, and if it shoots me, I'll just make a ticket and get it despawned." Vehicles are supposed to be intimidating and should be able to change the tide of a battle WITHOUT limits (not counting deployment rules). Having these restrictions on vehicles makes the classes boring and only useful for transport. If both sides don't deploy a vehicle, then there's no point in having one out except for transport. If no one spawns a tank, then there's no reason to spawn one in. It will result in an endless stalemate. Classes like Tech are already struggling with numbers VERY BADLY, and I respect the vision, but I don't think it was the right one. Setting the rules back I think would be best for both of these

Not saying this stuff to bring hate or anything dumb like that. I care about the server and want it to be the best

Believe me when I say this, no one respected SU back then, we all thought they were annoying toxic asshats that enjoyed making new player's lives insufferable.

That being said I'd love if you could explain what "risk" there is in exposing yourself to get 2 easy kills when you can just re-spawn and do it all over again with no penalty.

As for vehicle rules, I've been finding CvR more enjoyable without Onyx 1-1 trying to ruin the rebel's day on his 4th consecutive hunter deployment, so I think the new vehicle rules are quite positive. I personally don't want to fear the strider that can spam m2 and kill me and my whole squad with no chance to fight back other than committing an entire character slot for the sole purpose of MAYBE being able to kill them after dying to it 10 times, only for them to immediately respawn another one.

Honestly the new vehicle rules don't even change that, matter of fact that may even severe the consecutive deployments of vehicles, I am under the impression that the vehicle deployments may be more intensive but just a tiny bit less aggressive towards infantry.

I think that it would be fun to "fear" certain parts of the game however I feel like once you are more experienced, it goes from being scary and exciting to annoying and irritating, take Ajee's example about the strider, a RF Private might get scared of that strider and get excited over trying to defeat it, but a veteran player would look at that strider and just get frustrated fighting it or just refuse to fight it all together and either quit the server for the day or go AFK at base.

1.That seems more like a personal argument. If SU were toxic, that is an issue with the players, not the class. If new players didn't know about SU after being killed by one and the SU saying, "Hey, come here," then they will definitely remember that. If they don't know about it altogether, then that's a training issue. You could say the same from the rebel side that MACE were dicks back then doing the same thing. Its all about perspective sometimes.

2.The risk of blowing the brains out of EOW's is real; someone could be sneaking around and you didn't see them. There is a possibility they already know to kill you before you even shoot, and there is also a possibility that they outgun you.

3.That's a fair argument. From my perspective, it's more of a deployment issue with vehicles. Instead, what you could do is put time limit caps on vehicles. For example, a Strider can only be deployed once every 10 minutes, etc. This would give more of a reason to deploy. Unfortunately, with the new rules, there is no incentive to deploy anything other than a Heli for transport. If vehicles can only shoot other vehicles (excluding self-defense), then there is no reason to deploy one because people can just not shoot at it, and the Strider just has to stand there looking like a jackass. (Joke not meant to be rude).

I would love to hear peoples thoughts on this tho even if they dont agree with me. If im wrong I would rather you tell me then me standing around like a jackass

pls remember to +1 or -1

The problem with your vehicle argument is that you're forgetting about the escort rules. If a CO assigns a vehicle to defend a squad, that vehicle can freely engage anyone that squad engages.

COs not doing their job isn't an issue with the rules.

From my perspective I can see you want this server to be a lot more RP and a lot less TDM. Could you still not have the same interaction with a CO telling a vehicle to stay with a squad without the new vehicle rules? From my perspective it limits creativity and forces vehicles to only stay with 1 squad instead of interacting with other things if that makes sense. (love u bby)

I think a lot of the things said have some merit , however you can’t just remove/revert something without an alternative.

I agree with you on paper, but I know enough that people won't ever voluntarily do that.

The way I see it thats what makes it great. Giving creativity with limitless situations. Seems like we need to train our CO's better and give them actual tactics and stuff to use but to also use their own tactics to create unique situations. Think of Captain Keys from halo and his battle on sigma octavus 4. He used the tactics he was taught but also his own creations to destroy 4 cov ships and make the other flee with something that was considered "outdated". Limiting engagements to specific things can take away from moments like that that make CO's well known for something. ( u didnt say u loved me back bby Sad )
