+1 i feel like we should switch back to TFA instead of trying to make MW base feel like TFA

To address the existence of a meta:
As a UNION CO I run two perks: Scavenger and Immortal, giving me occasional extra ammo and allowing me to survive an extra engagement or two because I can regen to full health. These are the only perks I want, the drawbacks of any synergies or available perks disagree with my playstyle and desired experience. I usually equip armor, currently only running a Reinforced Combat Helmet because I don't have enough resources for any vest, something I'm fine with. Now when it comes to guns, I restrict myself to SMGs and only rare use of my M4 provided with the class purely for an "immersive" gameplay experience as a metropolice unit. I've maxed the MP5 and Striker-45, maybe I'll keep using them or move on to different weapons, but what I have found is that they both handled uniquely and felt equally viable. All of this considered, the fact that I actively "hinder" myself by not playing to whatever The Meta is, it shouldn't make sense that over a 4 hour map cycle, I can expect to accumulate roughly a 150/100 KDR as an absolutely mediocre shooter player, but I do, because what I'm running is about as viable and powerful in my hands as someone running the "best" kit. My story is not unique either, many of our newer players experiment and play their way to about as much success as I have.

To address the existence of a meta under TFA:
You did not respond to my final paragraph, which I believe underscores everything I said: A new weapon base does not suddenly change whether a meta exists, because it's a matter of fact that if ripped straight from the workshop, snipers and shotguns would dominate every aspect of gameplay. Of course, we wouldn't use it off the shelf, which brings me back to my point that we can either have a year and a half of brand new balancing issues, or we can simply stay the course and adjust MWB if needed and maintain the plethora of work that has gone into the server at large centered around MWB. Again, would you prefer a ridiculous amount of time of slogging through new balance issues for a shiny coat of paint that people will get bored of after enough time?

tfa always felt better. mwb has been a hard pill to take for me because it just feels so viscerally different than what the server used to feel like (im old)
i am not really here to argue, but MWB cannot be made to feel like TFA in any aspect at all because they're just so different

the slog with MWB is too great, using something like the PKM (or RPK, whatever the heavy LMG is) is so brutally unfun when you have to face guns that are so much better than yours because you can't get the attachments to make your gun good

((i was also a fan of the switching weapon packs on TFA, but i know those are unlikely to come back since they were a lot of work each time, MWR would be the pack i'd like TFA to return on, since by far it probably was one of the most enjoyed packs by the server (whatever pack was 2021-2022, i cant remember, i think it was MWR cause it had the gold skins n stuff.)))

with that also, i dont remember exactly the pack in 2019, but whatever that was was pretty gas too. i doubt it'd ever come back realistically though.

tl;dr - mwb gunplay for me at least (my opinion), feels worse than tfa gunplay
kind of an inherent feeling to the packs themselves, not much can be done to change one pack to feel like another w/o the base being changed

MWBase has always felt clunky. TFA Base just always felt snappy and your actions had that oomph behind them. If sent is wanting to stick with MWBase so bad, then at least hear these people out and change the MWBase to feel like TFA by removing those dumb stats like Sprint to Fire, Sprint to ADS, etc.

Maybe have both systems if possible? i loove level resets + since we dont have anymore the "Caches-In-Points" system as a way to obtain EXP periodically while having fun our own way, it already feels grindy af since the changes to have to deal with that again,,,

+1, TFA was simple and simple = fun on gmod imo, I think the attempts to make CvR more realistic have not gone well in terms of improving the gameplay and having almost every gun be nearly unplayable without attachments severely hurts player retention long term, a switch to TFA would do the server good in many aspects!

I'm sorry but I'm on the -1 on this

While i did fully come back in April of 2023, I did used to play on the server back in 2020, I created my current discord account just because of CvR, and as far as I can remember I didn't had the best time with TFA

For me MWB feels more natural than TFA, I played a bit right before MWB dropped, and even then it was very meh for me, I didn't like the 2d scopes all that much despite it being better, and I was so late to the grinding of TFA that everyone knew what was good and was shit

with MWB it gave everyone a clean slate, and for me a chance to learn properly, which I did.

There are 54 weapons that can be maxxed out on the server, 48 i have maxxed out now and i still use "off-meta" weapons like the Kilo 141 and the M13, and i still love the feel of these guns

As for the meta: who gives a shit? Just use what FEELS better for you, not what is statistically better, thinking that there is a meta sounds like skill issue to me honestly.

Prime example i can give is War Thunder (i know i geek a lot about the game but trust me on this one): at the battle rating around 6.7, many believe that there is a "armor meta" where the more armor you have the better the chances you have of survival, but here is the catch, all heavy tanks are slow in every aspect, sure they have big cannons, but that same cannon can be disabled, learn the weakspots, otherwise, shoot the cannon, tracks and flank at the side. Point is that at any Battle rating there is no meta because everyone and everything can kill you from anywhere, you're not invincible. This same thinking can be applied to CvR; just because you play nightlord EOWR doesn't mean someone can't outgun you with an M19, sure it's gonna be unlikely, but never impossible.

Tldr: there is no meta, you just suck at shooting, the weapon pack is not an excuse for your skill issue, get a gun that fits your needs, not the others needs.
