Bullet Sponge Meta

What if the higher weight you are, the louder your footsteps are, like at max weight you're as loud as combine footsteps used to be, if not enough maybe a small (like 5-10) HU speed nerf on individual pieces as well.

This is just factually wrong. It takes a long time for armor pieces to actually break, and the materials required to recraft them are fairly cheap at the medium and lower armor tiers. Obtaining mats also doesn't require a heavy amount of grinding, and it often comes down to one's willingness to use 2 seconds of their time picking up loot from dead bodies or looting nodes when it is most convenient. Sure, I've spent a bit of time on civilian going around looting nodes, but the main reason I do that is for credits to buy perks; mats are a nice side product. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who hasn't been on the server since August and had only started playing again back in the summer after a several month long hiatus.

Of course, one can always skip any sort of grinding entirely by simply buying the required mats outright, and there are plenty to be bought on the market. And considering the dozen ways one can obtain credits, it's easy to get the credits necessary to buy a bunch of mats, with the only caveat being that one is suffering the opportunity cost of not being able to afford perks.

The only two classes that are actually capable of taking full advantage of the armor the game offers are Unions and RFs, who can become pretty powerful when paired with their great class weapons or a melee build. Other classes have dramatically lower weight capacity, and so are less able to take advantage of armor. This is not even mentioning the fact that a lot of people choose to carry an inventory weapon by virtue of them thinking their class weapon is dogwater, their class is very niche, or they just really like using a particular weapon.

All in all, I don't think the meta being described is that oppressive to the average player, and anyone who decides to counter it with the same strategy are probably going to have a good time, assuming the class they are playing is compatible with that strategy.

Keep in mind that making perks be gained via levels basically removes 50% of the purpose of credits. One might even say it removes more like 66% or 75% of the purpose of credits.

Have you considered that the way things are right now, people are encouraged to play the core gamemode?

My guy does not know the "Carbon Depression" aka when Carbon Fiber was the rarest mat to get back when MWB dropped, I had to slave away an entire half of the day (9am CEST to 7pm CEST) just to get enough carbon fiber to make reinforced armor vest which was 32 CARBON FIBER, then I'd have to do that shit all over just when that thing breaks or gets close brealing that way I can barely replace it, and this was only through the loot props, there was no point mats or cache locator back then, you couldn't even buy mats like now, you had to beg and pray that some has carbon fiber, and even then they wouldn't even get their dick sucked just to sell it to you cuz that's how rare it was.

Be happy that carbon fiber is now more common and easier to get today then it used to be, without it half the shit wouldn't be craftable without spending an entire weekend running around the map.

Anyway, on the point of running tank builds, you have to remember that with these tanky builds you are slowed down significantly, that's why most EOW and MP heavy that defend points run nightlord cuz you ain't gonna move all that much yourself, and honestly i didn't had that much of a problem if you just.. yknow.. Shoot them.. Like get better aim and shoot their head to kill them quicker it ain't that hard.. Or find a gun that for you has the right feel (like for me it's the Kilo 141).

"Getting good" is quite moot when you take into account the quirks of not only the server but the source engine itself(Fortifications, Perks, Classes, Hitbox quirks, etc), and regardless if I magdump someone and lets say 60/70% of my shots connect I don't want to hear "just hit the head", I just want the person I shot with more than half my mag to die, but I understand that's a bit of a childish take.

Something that's more important that this post points out to me is:
"What does the average new player experience when they hop in the server?"

Going up against some vets who grinded an entire day for the mats to stack nigh ~200 armor on a class they've played and maximized with all the perks they can use to negate damage.
Imagine being a Union/RF having to deal with that, it's insufferable, and they don't HAVE that choice of getting a new gun they like yet.
It doesn't even matter what class they go up against 9/10 if someone is stacking armor and negation perks they are going to stop someone who is at a relatively casual level of play.
