What Region are you located in? What's your timezone?

North America, EST. Will be CST next month and then back to EST the next.

Previous Punishments?

None.

What's your reason for becoming Gamemaster?

The server needs some more GMs willing to get personal and make smaller scale events, since frankly the amount of events in general are quite low. I have some good ideas and with my experience being a DM for several DnD one shots, I can add some spice to the stale TDM-like state the server is in at the moment.

Have you ever been Event Staff or anything similar on other servers? If so please list below.

Nope. No server related experience making events.

Explain how you take criticism from other people, from constructive to border-line harassment.

Constructive criticism is always welcomed and heeded. I know that I am always learning as a player, GM and as a person.  While I won't blindly follow whatever someone tells me, but I always look into the perspectives of my peers and critics.

Harassment always comes from a point of view. Viewpoints that are extremely toxic may still hold legitimate criticisms. I will never take harassment personally, but I will attempt to extract any valid criticisms that those people may bring. Harassment should never be the answer, but it is inevitable. I will take what I am given, in a sense.

A Combine CmD has openly expressed their distaste for an event you're doing at that moment. It has gotten to the point where he is actively disrupting your event. What is your course of action?

I will notify the CmD that they are more than welcome to not participate in the event. I will also tell them any further intentional obstructions to the event will be recorded and sent to staff to be processed. I would present it politely, but directly enough that there would be no miscommunication.

A Resistance Fighter starts PMing you with some questions about a recent event you've done. However, because you were AFK, he has started harassing you. What is your course of action?

I would sincerely apologize to the RF, since being AFK and technically "On Duty" is a failure of upholding my duties as a GameMaster. I would then proceed to answer any questions that he has about the recent event.

What are GM's permissions both inside and outside of events?

GMs inside of events are allowed to give weapons and health/armor to players, spawn NPCs and props, god themselves, noclip and teleport themselves, bring and teleport players, and remove interrupting players from event areas. All of these permissions are to be done within reason, referenced to the event's' design and theme.

GMs outside of events are allowed to god themselves, enhance and judge RP situations, and answer GM related tickets. Abuse of abilities exclusive to events will not be tolerated.

You are hosting an important Post-Event DB and all of a sudden, the CO's ask you to leave so they can do their DB and exclude yours. What is your course of action?

I would politely tell the CO that they can host their DB after the Post-Event DB. Players have patiently waited for the rewards of their effort while participating in the event, and that waiting for other DBs will making players on both factions impatient.

A Gamemaster who said he would be assisting you in an event later on today hasn't shown up and now the event is running behind schedule. What should you do?

If possible, I would replace the absent GM with another one, either through discord messaging or PMing another GM not on duty, currently on the server. If doing the event by myself is not feasible, I would simply announce that the event is either postponed or canceled.

After getting a green light on an event, you notice there are 3 vehicles deployed at once. It is causing a little lag, what is your course of action?

I would notify the faction leader(s) of the deployed vehicles that the vehicles are causing lag, which can snowball into larger lag issues during the event. Even if the event description required this, the vehicle numbers still need to be reduced to avoid ruining other players experience, who are not participating in the event. If the faction leader is non-responsive, I would go to the next highest CO.

What's the process GM's take before making events, from start to finish. (This is what YOU think)

  1. A GM must have a at least a vague idea of an event to start designing off of.
  2. The GM should develop that idea "on paper" enough to be able to have a proof of concept for the event.
  3. GMs are highly recommended to share this idea with other GMs before fully fleshing it out, to get feedback on how it will practically done on the server. Experience is highly valued in the event design process.
  4. A GM will fully flesh out their event, considering at least a few cases where things do not go as planned.
  5. The event design is sent to a SGM+ to be reviewed and judged as needing work or able to be done.
  6. GMs are assigned to the scheduled event and is done.
  7. Fun happens (hopefully...)

A Resistance Captain is openly criticizing your event when he isn't in the event itself. It has gotten to the point where he is interrupting your important adverts relating to the event. What should you do?

If the interruptions are not flooding the chat to where the important adverts are unreadable/unnoticeable, I would simply ignore it. If they are, however, I would notify the Captain that he is obstructing an event, which can be recorded and sent to staff for processing.

How often do you think GM's should host events?

TGMs should strive to do events at least once a week. Minimally, GMs should host events at least once every two weeks. This does not mean GMs need to create ideas once or twice a week. They just need to host a pre-made event.

List three events that you might do if you get accepted (DETAILED AND BE ORIGINAL) [Campaigans and RP Situations are EXCLUDED]

    Templated Killhouse

This event can be modified to fit the desires of any GM that wants to host it. The GM will utilize indoor areas of the map and attempt to isolate it from other densely populated areas using signs and props. GMs will design with the chosen location several rooms that have a specific object or enemy/NPC. Each room will have an obstacle that players will need to overcome or solve in order to get to the end and [Insert objective here]. The GM will ask the highest ranking CO of a faction and request them to gather 4-8 of their "most loyal" units, keeping class diversity in mind. The gathered players will change their name to include some event name tag, and be brought to the entrance of the event building. Here is where GMs can start being creative. GMs can design RP obstacles, since as a locked entrance to the facility that must be either hacked, broken down, exploded using /me and /roll. Groups that make creative and wise /me's will get roll bonuses based on the action and the class/character of the person committing the action. The bonus amount is ultimately decided by the GM. Several rooms inside the killhouse will hold objects that may be necessary or optional in the mission, but the event should not last longer than 45 minutes. Volunteers can be added in the form of TGM+s and willing civilians can act as NPCs, combat obstacles (even assisted with enemy NPCs). Players accidentally killed will be brought back. GMs should be lenient and allow multiple chances to complete the objective, but shouldn't guarantee success. GMs should allow creative solutions, even if it seems to break or imbalance the difficulty. Every party member should be given opportunities to help, and not just one. This killhouse opportunity is give to both factions, but only one at a time. Rewards are given to both party members and the successful faction(s). Rewards are at the GM's discretion.

    Bar/Restaurant

This event is aimed for civilians that want to RP as a bar/restaurant owner trying to make business during these troubling times. The restaurant/bar will be put in a building close to a faction base, so that there is less potential for combat within the building. The hosting GM will assist the bar owner in carrying out food/drink orders, by using props. Donations can be accepted with credits, given to the owner. GMs must give all donated money to the owner, if given any. Those that drink/eat the served items will be given the choice to roll for an effect. The effects will be designed by the GM, ranging from the most violent being ignited, to the most "powerful" ones being turned into a headcrab or given 100 more health or armor. GMs can request other GMs or civilians to participate and work for the establishment. The event shall not last more than 90 minutes.

Grav Race (Get it? Like Drag Race?)

This OOC event is best in low server populations. A GM will create in a secluded, high area a large, ovular/rectangular track. Participating players will pair up (potentially group if too many players). One player in every group will drive an airboat, while the other partner(s) will be given grav guns. Teams must race against each other, being pushed by their grav gun teammates around the track, for a specified amount of laps. The GM may decide that sabotaging other boats can be acceptable or not. Fallen boats or killed/fallen players will be considered out of commission, and be brought to a "bleachers" area so that they be able to spectate the rest of the race. The GM may decide to close up the track or leave holes/open walls, so long as any potential fallen boats/players won't disturb other non-participating players.

Do you understand and accept the following clause: I will not leak staff information in gamemaster channels or otherwise. I will not abuse my powers in-game or otherwise. I must add [DEFN] to my steam username as soon as I get accepted.

Ye.
