What is your reason(s) for applying for Gamemaster?

Since I have joined the server back in November 2020, I have been very active in the community and want nothing more than to improve the player experience on the server. Events are one of the most interesting aspects of the server, its a time where there is an objective other than just capturing points and killing rebels. Events are all about lore and that's what makes them so interesting. I have significant appeal to assisting in events to better the server as a whole. And I believe with the time I've spent on the server witnessing what makes events good and bad although the eyes of the player, I have a decent grasp on what events should be like to cater to the player's experience and make the event more enjoyable.

Have you ever been Event Staff or something similar before? If so, list your previous positions.

I have never personally have been apart of the Event Staff, but I closest thing I have been while the CvR is the Combine Representative/Leader of Combine during some events, most notably the recent Burger Town event, as well as Phase 1 of the Dissidence Campaign. I am currently waiting on whether or not my staff application will be accepted, which I hope it does Smile

Describe how you react to negative feedback, from constructive criticism to borderline harassment.

There is a clear difference between constructive criticism and borderline harassment, and that is the intent of the individual sending that feedback. Negative feedback is very important for something like events because it clearly acknowledges the flaws of an event, that knowing that information is crucial for later improvements for events in the future. You can never perfect something, and I understand that, but with having a positive mindset towards negative feedback, it can help greatly improve your events, which therefore makes the player's experience more enjoyable.

While planning a server-wide Event you realized that it would make hosting it much easier if you had another Gamemaster assisting you, and manage to get someone to help. Unfortunately 5 minutes before the Event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed?

I wouldn't get upset towards the other Gamemaster, because in reality real life problems are much more of a priority than CvR. With realizing that this specific event might be more difficult than originally with the absent of the other Gamemaster in mind, I would first try to see if any GMs or Admins with ULX Abilities are online and are able to assist with my event. If no one is available, then I would think of ways to alter the events for one GM that still keeps close to the original quality and vision of the event idea. It's important in these situations that you don't stress yourself out, because being to stressed just leaves to mistakes that therefore negatively affects the event and the player's experience.

While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react?

If I were in this situation I would immediately contact Sentinel apologizing and explaining what exactly I did and experiment on that caused the crash, I would also contact the current Head Gamemaster or Gamemaster Supervisor so that they can announce to the other GMs what exactly happened so something similar doesn't happen again. To prevent something like this, If I needed to test something for an event, I would either go to the Development Test Server, or I would load up a single player world and test using the same addons as the server. It's very important that you don't accidentally crash the server because that can that can affect player count and crashing while playing doesn't help the player's experience.

An NCO has finished training a Recruit, but there are no COs or Staff online to provide the whitelist. What do you do?

Although I am pretty sure GMs aren't allowed to give whitelists, I would still give the recruit its whitelist. First impressions mean alot on the server and not being able to play, stuck on recruit because no one can give you a whitelist can be very annoying and hurts the player's experience.

While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react?

In a situation like this, improvising and thinking of new ideas on the spot is very important. Although CvR doesn't really have much RP, in this instance I would implement some sort of RP, whether that be having the Grids/Engineers have to repair the computer to once again open the door, or have the door completely destroyed by either explosives whether that be player's themselves destroying the doors or myself causing a explosion that opens the door and resumes the event.

While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation?

I would kindly ask the CmD/MAJ to reconsider attempting to get players to refuse to participate since that is an act of event disruption which can result in staff intervention if needed. Something like this not only hurts the player's experience on the opposite side than CmD/MAJ who is protesting the event, but also the side with the CmD/MAJ, as they are being forced to not participate in an event they might deem as interesting and exciting. I would also personally DM the specific CmD/MAJ inquiring about why they didn't specifically like the event, and how I could possibly improve it for the future, as I said earlier negative feedback and constructive criticism is very important for improvement.

After hosting a server-wide Event, you are in the middle of a post-event Debrief when the COs present tell you to stop hosting your DB so they can host theirs. How do you react?

I would kindly ask for the COs to wait for me to finish my post-event Debrief, since it revolves around the event they all just participated in. The less time we spent arguing over who can host DB, the faster I can get my DB done so they can host theirs. I'm assuming with the prompt that this is the first of two DB I host, if I were to come over to the other side and they are already in a DB, I would wait until after they are done to host my post-event DB.

What permissions do Gamemasters have, both inside and outside of Events?

Inside Events: Whatever is needed to complete your Event, as long as it within server rules and your perms

Outside Events: Testing of Models, Gearstrips, Scrapping vehicles

While preparing to host an Event, you notice that there are 3 vehicles deployed, and that the server is lagging a bit because of that. What do you do?

I would offer to scrap the vehicle in return for some resources back, if they decline, then I'll wait for the vehicles to mostly be destroyed before starting my event.

Describe your design process of Events prior to queuing them.

First I would think of a basic idea for a possible event. Then I would go to a Word document and expand upon my original basic idea to create a more complex summary of what my event should be like. Then I would think of how many people I would need for assistance and write out specific responsibilities and then ask around to see what staff or GMs can assist me. I would also write up a more simplified version of my event so that in a case where I would be alone due to some last minute difficulties, I could still go on with the event without stressing myself in the process.

Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is appreciated, and a lack of details will be penalized.

1. During the construction of a new underground tunnel, the Combine accidentally stumble upon an underground Antlion nest from the Xen Dimension. The Combine must destroy the Antlion Grubs (Larvae) which is guarded by Antlion Soldiers before the Queen Antlion destroys the Combine HQ, specific generators will be placed around Combine Base that the Queen needs to destroy in order to win. While exposed to the surface, the Antlions also discover the Resistance HQ, and now both sides have to work together to clear out the Antlion nest before total extermination of both sides ensues (Generators will also be placed in Rebel Base similar to the ones in Combine Base). If the Queen Antlion destroys all your generators, then that whole side is exterminated (If all the Combine generators are destroyed, the Rebels can still fight them off)

2. A food warehouse used mainly by members of the Metropolitan Police Force and Civil Workers Union has been taken over by the Resistance. Because of this, effects of food shortages are starting to ravage among the human volunteers in the Combine. Morale is low, and many are considering defecting over to the Rebels. The Combine have 20 minutes to take over the warehouse, which is heavily defended by rebels. If the Rebels successfully defend the warehouse, all members of the Metropolitan Police Force and Civil Workers Union will be enslaved by the Rebels as they've gone too hungry to think straight. If the Combine do successfully take back the warehouse, pain will come to the Rebels as the morale is once again up....

3. The Second Battle of Burgertown: If you are unaware of the LORE/Events of the first battle of Burgertown basically Burgertown use to be a place where members of the Resistance, led by Jim Jones himself, prospered in a land free from Combine well protected by mountains to each side. Citizens of Burgertown are notorious for their "healthy" diet of burgers and Kool-Aid, something the Resistance there picked up quickly.

An unknown civilian gives some Kool-Aid to a member of the Civil Workers Union, who is mistaken as another civilian. After ingesting the liquid, the CWU is amazed by how great is tasted, and quickly reports to the rest of Combine about the new god-like substance. The Combine have set their focuses on the pockets of the mountain, where the rich liquid naturally subsides.

The Combine quickly and desperately lay siege on Burgertown, citizens are forced into hiding within the town, anger at the Combine for destroying what they loved.

Until they learn of the real reason the Resistance and Jim Jones himself were in Burgertown. They were draining the town of its Kool-Aid via extractors around the town. The citizens notable got upset towards their "protectors" and secretly gave information to the Combine about Kool-Aid extractors set up around the town which they needed to destroy to stop Jim Jones from accomplishing his destiny.

The Resistance soon find out that the Citizens of Burgertown have turned against them, and issue a genocide towards the civilians.

The Combine successfully destroy the Kool-Aid Extractors, save the civilians from genocide, and take control of the town, defending against Resistance counterattacks for what felt like days. Heavy casualties on both side made it one of the bloodiest conflicts within the history of CvR. But it was worth it for that sweet sweet Kool-Aid, for now...

Many believed that Jim Jones died defending the extractors, but they were wrong.... Jim Jones always lives

Now Jim Jones is back, now with an even bigger army, to seek revenge on Burgertown for turning against him and his cause. Now the Combine are tasked with protecting the citizens of Burgertown from genocide, will they successfully save Burgertown once again, or will Jim Jones fulfill his Kool-Aid driven destiny...

How often do you think GMs should host events?

I think big/main events should be hosted a bare minimum of twice a month. While smaller events should be hosted atleast twice a week.

Do you understand and accept the following clause: I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, I will not abuse my powers, and I will not break the Gamemaster rules.

I understand and accept that as a GM I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, I will not abuse my powers, and I will not break the Gamemaster rules.

Do you understand the basics of using ULX? List what you know.

Yes, I have a pretty decent knowledge of the basics of ULX through my time in CvR

I know that * targets all, ^ targets yourself, @ targets your picker

All of your answers are great and detailed, and you clearly have what it takes to be an event host. You seem to only go into lore details with all three of your events which isn't really a bad thing, but your events do seem like they would take a lot of coordination to host, especially your first and third one. I would also like to know what you mean by "total extermination" in your first event.

Thank you for your kind feedback. And to answer your question, when I mean "Total Extermination" I more so mean unable to fight back against the Antlions.

When the Queen Antlion destroys all of one sides generators, that side is "exterminated" which basically means they are out and no longer can fight the Antlions.

+1, pretty good event ideas and as I stated before, you are active and pretty well known. My only concern is that you are trying to join both staff and GM at the same time. I'm not trying to tell you to not join both, but having Cmd, GM, and Staff does a number on some ppl. In any case good luck on your app

+1, Well I would say Consta you are good person, and I think you would defiantly make a good Gm.
1st event. Well events where combine and rebels are always funky, but it could work. Also maybe as an Idea you could also maybe have the soldiers and queen be player/gm controled? just an idea
2nd event. seems good, but that last bit about the whole team being enslaved? ehhhhhhhhhh idk
3rd event. Do I even need to say anything? this is a really good thought out event. I also like how its part of a story since those style of events always have their own little air to them.
The rest of the app. good, I'm not seeing many or any grammer errors reading through so good job.

Thanks for the feedback on my events. I just wanted to respond with explaining my thought process for the first two events to clear up any confusion. For the first event since in the situation the "Queen" is targeting generators, I thought it was implied that the queen would have to be player controlled because I doubt the normal NPC would target generators. When it comes to the soldiers defending the nests though, I could see that possibly being NPCs instead of players/GMs just because in that situation I don't know how many I want to be guarding the nests. Also with your concerns towards Combine and Rebels working together, the event could easily be altered to be more like "the cries of the Antlions, who have been peacefully living underground, disturbs yet another underground Antlion nest, this time near the Rebel Base". In this situation though, I don't know if it would be better to have one queen attacking both rebel and combine base or two queens, with one targeting combine base and the other targeting rebel base.

For my second event my thought process was that in the scenario where the combine lost and couldn't take back the food warehouse, that the human volunteers of the Combine (MPF and CWU) would directly suffer as a result. In my head the best way for this to make sense is if the human volunteers of the Combine "went insane from hunger and joined the rebels" therefore being enslaved for a short period of time, but in my opinion there is probably a better way to demonstrate what the lack of food does to the human volunteers of the Combine without enslaving them. It's just the best thing I could of thought of at 1 in the morning.

Again thank you for your feedback and your +1 Smile

Accepted!

You've got a great application and a personality sought after in GM. The events and answers to the questions are great as well, along with the overwhelming amount of +1s.
More info will be provided over discord.
