[b]What is your reason(s) for applying for Gamemaster?[/b]

I used to be a GM a fairly long time ago, and to be frank my events were absolute doodoowater. I think that now after school is out I can focus on creating better events for the server. Also, considering how I live pretty much on the other side of the world compared to most of the server's player base, I can create events for those who also live in different time zones when the server is less active.

Have you ever been Event Staff or something similar before? If so, list your previous positions.

GM on Definitive Networks

Describe how you react to negative feedback, from constructive criticism to borderline harassment.

If said feedback was constructive, I would keep note of it and attempt to incorporate it into future event planning and event execution. If it were harassment, I would pretty much ignore them.

While planning a server-wide Event you realized that it would make hosting it much easier if you had another Gamemaster assisting you, and manage to get someone to help. Unfortunately 5 minutes before the Event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed?

If the assistant GM was unable to help with the event, I would try to present a simplified version of the event with some interactions and moments cut out, in order to make it easier for a single GM (me) to pull it off in a decent fashion. If the assistant GM was really necessary to execute the event (too many of the interactions and moments need an assistant etc.),  I would promptly cancel it before anything happens.

While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react?

Inform Sentinel the server crashed, explain it was probably me testing NPCs in the admin area, and promptly apologize to him.

An NCO has finished training a Recruit, but there are no COs or Staff online to provide the whitelist. What do you do?

I would give the whitelist to the Recruit, and explain to the Administration team that nobody was online to provide a whitelist to the Recruit, so I did it myself.

While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react?

I would present some form of RP device or feature with the computer that opens the door anyways, such as a failsafe that opens the door if the computer is destroyed.

While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation?

Contact staff and tell them that a high ranking individual is disrupting my event by attempting to get individuals to cease participating in the event. I would also inform a General or Sectoral/Planetary Commander that a high ranking officer is disrupting my event.

After hosting a server-wide Event, you are in the middle of a post-event Debrief when the COs present tell you to stop hosting your DB so they can host theirs. How do you react?

I would kindly ask them to wait for my DB to finish and resume at a faster pace, after that I would allow them to continue.

What permissions do Gamemasters have, both inside and outside of Events?

OUTSIDE EVENTS
They may take unstuck tickets, spawn vehicles for GRIDs and Engineers, color vehicles for their respective factions, provide whitelists (in case no staff are on)

INSIDE EVENTS
Use pretty much all of their tools to do the event, obvious limits such as not crashing the server by using the shell canister too much, they can also use !give to give things as rewards at the end of the event.

While preparing to host an Event, you notice that there are 3 vehicles deployed, and that the server is lagging a bit because of that. What do you do?

Wait for the vehicles to die, unless too much time passes. In that case, I will ask one of the vehicles (preferably a non-faction vehicle) to undeploy.

Describe your design process of Events prior to queuing them.

1. Draft an event outside of the game.
2. See if there would be any issues with executing it in the server.

3. Test things out in singleplayer.
4. Queue Event.
5. If event denied, revise event with reasons to improve.

Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is appreciated, and a lack of details will be penalized.

[Artillery Upgrade Chip]

A small, unmanned outpost will be set up in a remote area of the current map (e.g. underground metro for C13 or mountains for defn main). The story is that this outpost is actually a research base for artillery shells housing headcrabs within them for the combine. The event will be announced when the automated base system, seeing that there is no one operating the base, sends out a distress signal meant for Overwatch forces. The problem is, the base system's communication nodes are outdated, and the message accidentally goes out to all the factions.

When one of the factions arrives there, the base defense systems will activate and will defend the base in the form of ceiling turrets. Some areas will also be infested with zombies (To explain them also attacking combine, the turret's targeting system uses an outdated identification sheet, so they will still attack the combine because the Overwatch have new, unrecognized IDs.). In one of the rooms, there will be a computer system interaction that has the option to create the Upgrade Chip (And a gravgun to pick up said upgrade chip, the chip is a 1x1 cube prop.).

If the person carrying the chip is successfully able to bring it back to their base (within the borders), their faction will gain a one-off ability to launch a headcrab shell artillery strike in place of a normal one (If no engineers are on, COs may use the headcrab shells). Weapon rewards are given out to anyone who attacked the outpost, and are on the winning faction.

[Thumper Tennis]

A fun, OOC event that involves two players on a large floor, one on each side of a very tall wall. The aim is to kill the person on the other side of the wall with your grenade launcher (There will be ammo boxes on each end to ensure that they don't run out of grenades). If you hit the wall with your grenade, instant death for you. If you run off the platform, instant death for you. The person who wins is the last person alive. Rewards are any weapon they want, as well as setting their health back to its original value.

[Urban Assault Team]

The Urban Assault Team have set up shop on the map and are acting as mercenaries for either faction. They are made up of 5 neutral players (civvies and/or anarchists) and each can choose one of the following kits:

1. Spearhead

410 HP
FBI Shield
SPAS 12

2. Demoman
350 HP
RPK
Grenade Launcher
RPG

3. Medic
310 HP
AKM
Medkit
Defibrillator

4. Ranger
300 HP
M24

All of these kits also include the CSS CT playermodel.

As you can see, these loadouts are fairly powerful. This power comes at a cost. It will cost 5000 base resources to hire these guys. After they die, the contract is over. If I begin to notice that my mercenaries are biased, such as dying way more easily when hired by one side, I will replace the mercenary in question with someone I believe would be less biased.

There aren't really rewards for the factions in this event, unless securing territory by using the mercenaries could be considered an award.

How often do you think GMs should host events?

GMs should host events 1-2 times a week, from past experience.

Do you understand and accept the following clause: I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, I will not abuse my powers, and I will not break the Gamemaster rules. Additionally, I will add [DEFN] to my Steam name.

neutral leaning +1
events seem interesting
1st event feedback : seems good to me
2nd event feedback : simple OOC event, sounds a bit funky but plausible, but one things is the m79 grenade launcher has a large blast radius so you'll have to be pretty careful with it
3rd event: well that resource cost in kinda low as you can get 2000 resources back pretty quick, and the weapons don't really work, saiga doesn't equip with shields, the Barret is a banned item, so be very careful with it.

Neutral
Events are decent, application is decent, but as far as I know I believe you don't have a good history being a GM, hosting wacky events that include "allah" I believe. Good luck.

(also haven't seen you on in ages)

from what I remember you abused the mini event system to hold mingy events but if you say your gonna make better events then I think you deserve another chance

From what I read from the top posts I also have to say neutral but leaning to +1

Cause everything overall is pretty good, but this may change and you look like a good fit, but yeah with what was said above about behavior is making it neutral for me.

Denied.

I've gone over this previously, but until you demonstrate that you have changed your behavior from its previously mingy state I will not be accepting your GM applications. My recommendations for how you can do that are;
-Become recognizably helpful to the community. This does not require being a CO, but it is easier to see the constructive actions of a CO than it is for NCOs or below.
-Apply for Staff and demonstrate that you are capable of responsibly handling situations and making use of their tools.

In terms of feedback for this application, it is quite good. Your answers are satisfactory, and your Event ideas are pretty good. The one problem I see is the Urban Assault Team is essentially just a boss battle Event, though more specific to one faction. Especially with the C&C update, it might be good but gameplay moves really quickly so having it based more on Shield + Shotgun or something similar would be better imo.

You may reapply in two weeks.
