All the way team, Arson here, long-time player, short-term lover.
I want to talk about crouch delay and why I think it’s a huge issue that impacts gameplay in a negative way. While I understand that "spamming" crouch can be annoying and frustrating at times, especially when you see a Cross Beyblade do a 360 no-scope headshot on you Cough LA.
1. Loss of Responsiveness/kills flow
The crouching delay creates a feeling of disconnect between the player and the character. When I press a button, I expect an immediate reaction, not a half-second pause or delay. It’s like the game is hesitating, or I have some EU internet. This server should feel responsive and snappy, especially for a fast-paced PvP server like this one, and not feel like I have 200 ping. This is why I was against the "inertia" mechanic, and when it was removed/tuned down, the server felt 20x better(IMO). The flow of movement in a game is essential. When I’m moving, crouching, in a fight, I want to feel like I'm in control of my actions. Adding a crouching delay creates unnecessary friction and forces me to think about when I can crouch again, which disrupts the natural "flow" of gameplay. Instead of letting players move seamlessly, this delay makes it super fucking clunky and awkward.
3. Punishes Players
Crouch spamming may be bad, and I'm not here to argue that—that’s for a different post. But a delay punishes every player, whether they are crouch spamming or not. We need to reward players for trying to use everything at there disposal, not punish them. This actively punishes every players freedom of movement and makes them less in control of there character
4. Feels Like a Band-Aid Fix/Wrong Prognosis
I get that the delay is likely to prevent the abuse of spamming crouch, but it feels like a band-aid fix. I have played this server for a while, and I haven’t heard many people complain about crouch spam until now. We've had crouching in the server for like 5 years. Why is it such a huge deal now, and why are we sacrificing gameplay in the desperate attempt to prevent it. We should make changes about balance in a way that doesn’t impact the fluidity of movement. My honest opinion is that because of the new style of recoil, it’s harder for players to kill these "crouch spammers."
5. Fighting Against the Controls
When you’re in the middle of combat/trying to runaway, that little delay in responsiveness makes it feel like you are playing a game with artificial restrictions. Instead of feeling like a skilled player, it feels like you’re fighting against the controls. This can be discouraging to newer players. This is why I'm against the jump delay as well. Again for another post, lets work on one thing at a time.
I actually want to hear people's thoughts and opinions on this. Remember, team, we’re a community, and we should all want the best for the server no matter what class you play or faction you play for.

I agree, the delay in crouching makes the gameplay feel unresponsive. I feel like new players are going to be confused why they have to hold crouch a second before they jump to crouch jump, or why there is a delay in general

Crouchspamming has been a pretty heated topic for the past year or so after the community collectively came to the realisation that it's a load of shit, especially after the tickrate update. Search any CvR-affiliated discord for the word 'crouch' and you'll only see it used in the context of scorning the evil, twisted movement players.

You've been back for I think a month yeah? It's been a complaint for basically the entirety of 2024, don't know when or why it started but it's a daily thing if you REALLY start crouch spamming. Even I got accused of it and I was timing mine to once a second.

Whats going on killer, thanks for the response
This issue extends beyond crouch-spamming , any player who moves unpredictably or suddenly shifts directions will be harder to hit in a higher-tickrate environment. But that doesn’t mean crouch spamming is broken. it’s a side effect of the new system, one that you gotta get used to dawg Since its harder to hit people, crouch-spamming feels more frustrating to play against. If anything, the focus should be on balancing the experience overall, not by placing unnecessary and arbitrary limits on fundamental gameplay mechanics, which would make gameplay feel less responsive to counter "movement players".
I have not once seen a clip of someone missing a shot due to "Crouch spammers". I think its an excuse because they lost the fight. I have fought against it, and never had a problem with it. Crouch-spamming isn’t an exploit. It doesn't effect game-play in major capacity definitely not enough to change the base mechanic.
Crouch spamming has always been an issue. Tickrate updates made it way worse aswell. This is literally the best case solution that could have been done to put an end to crouch spam. Slowing down the gameplay for the sake of quality of life is necessary. Toes need to be stepped on and people have to be pushed out of their comfort zone for something like this to be fixed once and for all. There is virtually no solution to make this benefit everyone all at once. Movement players have always been collectively hated by the community since well before and since I joined. Even on other servers. Crouch spamming is just a scummy “get out of jail free” card. It’s not a high skill mechanic at all. CvR isnt supposed to feel 100% arcade like. The acceleration removal update should be more than enough to compensate for this. Adjustments can be made after theres been thorough feedback from the community. But from my own opinion, this is a good thing for the server.
TLDR: ppl who think this update is bad need to realize that this benefits the server greatly and kills all the movement players that have plagued the server for years. flow of gameplay and actual player retention through honest fair gameplay and QoL updates are two seperate things.

Crouch cool down was already adjusted after this suggestion was posted, give it a shot and see how it is today
