List all (if any) previous punishments (Warns/Bans) One for Spawncamp / Entering Enemy Base, From like 8 months ago. No bans at all
What is your reason(s) for applying for Gamemaster? My mind has been flowing with event ideas from seeing GMs doing events and I want to try my hand at being a GM.
Have you ever been Event Staff or something similar before? If so, list your previous positions. Yes. Project Resurrection: GM / SGM (Senior GM)
Describe how you react to negative feedback, from constructive criticism to borderline harassment. I love all constructive criticism and tend to take it into account because I know my events aren’t picture perfect and I like to hear what people have to say about my events.
For Borderline harassment I ignore it majority of the time due to it not contributing to anything at all but if it starts getting harsh I can get Server Staff to punish the person.
While planning a server-wide Event you realized that it would make hosting it much easier if you had another Gamemaster assisting you, and manage to get someone to help. Unfortunately 5 minutes before the Event is scheduled to begin, they messaged you and said they would be absent. How do you proceed? I would reach out to another GM while I delay the event to see if they are willing to help and I give them the Event Plan, I could also get Server Staff like an Administrator+ to help me on smaller portions and I can take the larger portions of the event.
While planning an Event, you decide to test some of the tools you think would be helpful. You go to the admin room, and start to experiment. Unfortunately, while testing with some NPCs the server crashed. How do you react? I would first goto Sentinel and inform him about the crash so he doesn’t think the server just magically flatlined then I would goto the HGM and also inform him about the crash and also what I did exactly so he can inform others about it so it doesn’t happen again.
An NCO has finished training a Recruit, but there are no COs or Staff online to provide the whitelist. What do you do? I can give the recruit the whitelist.
While hosting a server-wide Event you have implemented a RP section where players can interact with a computer in order to open a door. Unexpectedly, a CO decides that they would rather that door stay closed (Presumably so that the other side cannot continue), and orders that the computer be destroyed. Given that the door is essential to progressing your event, how do you react? I can improvise via doing an @@ of the following, “Alert, computer system under attack at [Location], send Overwatch Units immediately.” in which I could have an APC roll up and Combine NPCs spawn by it in which the Defenders have to defend from the Combine in which a countdown starts then the doors in which the computer would open would open automatically as a fail-safe for the computer. If it were the Combine defending, the @@ would be, “Outpost 6 under attack, we got some vital info there so stock up and head out there to attack it!” in which Rebel NPCs would spawn out of a Rebel APC.
While hosting a server-wide Event, a CmD/MAJ decides that they dislike it, and begin to openly attempt to get players to refuse to participate. This reaches the point that there are almost no players participating on one side. How do you resolve the situation? I would ask him to stop nicely and also ask what’s wrong with the event if he says “its garbage” or “its shit” I would tell him politely to not disrupt the event. Then I could add more of a reward for both factions so people would get interested and start playing in the event again.
After hosting a server-wide Event, you are in the middle of a post-event Debrief when the COs present tell you to stop hosting your DB so they can host theirs. How do you react? I would tell the COs politely that the DB won’t last long and it is also important as it is going to have info about after the event in which I would finish it up then let the COs host their DB
What permissions do Gamemasters have, both inside and outside of Events? Inside Events: Basically anything really needed to progress the event that wouldn’t kill the server. Outside: Whitelisting and doing tickets that only require a /roll like Overlook Office / Leadership Office hacks, basically anything not related to rule breaking and punishment.
While preparing to host an Event, you notice that there are 3 vehicles deployed, and that the server is lagging a bit because of that. What do you do? I would ask them if they can undeploy and I would give them the full resource cost of the vehicle back or I can bring the vehicle into a high corner of the map.
Describe your design process of Events prior to queuing them. I would brainstorm my event idea through going into Singleplayer and scheming it out on the current map and maybe occasionally asking a friend or someone what they would think of the Event if they were to play in it. I also can go through it by myself, practically re-enacting what would happen in the real server and also develop back-up plans in-case something goes wrong for the highest success rate.
Create three Event ideas and describe them below. Be as detailed as you feel necessary. Originality is appreciated, and a lack of details will be penalized.
1. Operation Blue Bird
(In Character) The Resistance have gotten word of a refugee convoy about to come through the city and that the Combine most likely know as well. They’ve also been informed that one of the vehicles is practically stocked full of weapons. (Out of Character) I would conscript the help of one or two other GMs to drive the convoy around the map until they’re ambushed, and before the Event I would ask for volunteers for help, most likely 3 or 4 to sit in the vehicles with the GMs. Once they’re brought they would be reskinned to the HL2 Partisan Model and they would be given 2000 HP with 300 AP so they don’t die instantly along with various types of weapon combos like the M1014 with a Shield, L86 with an M9, along with a Medic that has 1250 HP with 500 AP with the Medkit and Defibs along with a W1200. (In Character) The Combine have had CROSSes scouting around the city looking for Rebels and out of pure luck one of them had seen a whole convoy of vehicles but didn’t know how well they are armed. Then they are told to amputate and possibly capture some of them for more info, then they would go to a pre-planned location while OOC the Rebels are just now getting their debriefing. The Combine are also told not to open fire on the Convoy in-case of additional help. (OOC) If one of the Combine are to shoot the Convoy, reinforcements would be scrambled and come as NPCs to help guard the Convoy. I’d also allow only transport vehicles but they cannot fire at anyone. But if a side is losing heavily I would allow the firing of the weapons on them along with allowing LA / EOWA.
Rewards Section of the Event:
If the Rebels won, they would receive one or two of the Partisans but with reduced HP, i.e one of the Rebels of CO choosing would become a Partisan with 500 HP and 100 AP with an AR, SMG or Shotgun. And all the Rebels would also get any weapon of their choosing that is not blacklisted.
If the Combine win, they would get any weapon of their choosing or they can get one Crab Synth Pill with 4500 HP due to how weak the Pill can be and how large it is. They can also opt to get a pre-war car if they want.
2. Black-matter Disarray
The Combine would be called back to base for debriefing of a Dark Matter Core being set up at a point on the map which could grant mythic powers if kept up for long enough. Though the only problem is, three of the parts are scattered near the Core which they need to find to get the core fully operational. The parts for the core would be some Combine Computers or forcefield cores to prevent high radiation from “killing”them overtime.
Now it’s the Rebels turn for their DB. They would be informed about seeing some GRIDs wandering around the certain area on the map carrying some crazy materials and they should check it out to make sure it’s nothing major. Then when they figure it out what’s happening, it would be a full-blown attack on the point. If the Combine haven’t found all the pieces by then, well then they have to fend off the Rebels while searching, now once they get all the pieces on the Core, there would be an @@ saying, “Dark Matter Core restart program starting..., estimated time, one minute.” then the Combine have to defend it so it doesn’t get taken over by Rebels. Once it’s finished it would start researching certain abilities like Extra HP, Extra AP, Vehicles in which could be chosen by any unit that comes over to a Control Console.
Times for items that can be chosen are listed below: (Will be on a textscreen nearby)
You can only choose two things to research
Health Tree - 50 HP added, takes two minutes to research, stackable
AP Tree - 25 AP added, takes three minutes to research, stackable up to 100 AP.
Vehicle Tree: starts off at a civilian car, then to an Avia Truck, then to an APC, then finally to a Hornet or HC (Will depend on a roll for HC or Hornet along with each research taking 5 minutes to progress in the tree.)
Supportive Tree - Starts off giving one medkit, then two, then goes up to one defib, then it gives two defibs. (Takes two minutes each time)
Warfare Tree - Starts off giving pistols, then SMGs, then Assault Rifles, then LMGs, and finally snipers. (No blacklisted weapons allowed, takes three and a half minutes each time to research)
During all of the research, I would have a timer counting down the time. ——————————————————————————————————————— For the Rebels to achieve Victory, they have to eliminate all Combine Forces and get inside where the core is and goto the console and do a /me shuts down reactor while I am present, marking victory which is announced via @@ saying “Manual Shutdown activated, shutting down.”
This is then followed by me doing an @@ saying “Rebel Victory achieved! Return to your Factions DB for rewards.”
For rewards The Combine would be simple, They would get anything researched in the Skill Tree.
For Rebels they would get any weapon of their choosing along with choosing what vehicle they want, up to Rebel COs, they can’t choose anything higher than an APC, i.e no T90, Strider and no helicopters.
3. Family Fun Night
Are you tired of being forced to go in Faction versus Faction Events? Then this Event sounds like the one for you!
Now for this, I would construct a small carnival-like place in one of the corners of the map where anyone can come and play some games, now the list of the games would be listed below;
———————————————————————————————————————
Shoot the crackhead! - Costs 500 credits to play, I would be running around like a well, crackhead and they would have to try and hit me with a HL2 Pistol, depending on performance they would get 1000 - 2275 credits.
Go-Kart Racing - Max of 3 players, there would be a race with everyone using the Trabant so it’s all fair and players would have to race around a track. They can also ram into other players to slow them down, costs 500 credits to play. 1st place gets 1500 credits, 2nd place gets 1250 and 3rd place gets 1000 credits.
”Water Balloon” Throwing - Each player will get one grenade and has to get it to land in any of the baskets scattered around. Costs 500 Credits to play. The closest basket yields 750 Credits, then the next is around a foot or a foot and a half away which gives 1000 Credits, then the farthest basket which is around 5 feet away from the second basket gives 1500 Credits
Basketball Ballers - Play against other players for 1500 Credits and see how much you can score with a basketball. Whoever gets the most points in five minutes gets 4500 credits. Keep in mind its practically a FFA. —————————————————————————————————————————— How often do you think GMs should host events? One or two mini events per week.
Do you understand and accept the following clause: I will not leak Staff or Gamemaster information, I will not abuse my powers, and I will not break the Gamemaster rules. Additionally, I will add [DEFN] to my Steam name.
Yes, I agree.
