I personally took a huge break from GMOD when I was at college and before that I was staff on a lot of servers throughout the years. When coming back to GMOD after getting my teaching degree, I found CVR and fell in love with the community. The people and the staff are both respectful and fun to be around. I want to help keep that atmosphere that I look forward to coming to after work by being staff and helping maintain the peace. I genuinely enjoy being on the server which can be said for other games I play and that is why I want to help out as much as I can. Why should you be accepted on the staff team? As I mentioned before I played GMOD a lot before college. During HS I was staff on darkrp, clone wars, halo, Warhammer, WWII, and a few TTT servers. I feel that I am even more mature as I was back then and could bring a lot to the table. I am a teacher IRL and I am good at keeping my cool/taking feedback because I have to do that in my job. I am also extremely active and play almost every single day. I know how to manage ULX and I read the rules frequently. I work well with others because in my job, I have to coordinate with a team of educators to plan lessons for students and make sure we are all on the same page with deadlines and tests. During the Summer I will be on even more because my job is off on the Summer. Lastly, I think I would be a good role model/representative of Definitive Networks for members and possible future staff. Do you understand that you must have "[DEFN]" tag in your Steam name whenever you join CvR? Yes I understand. Any staff who can vouch for you?
I know Gadget and Sev fairly well and I am certain they would vouch for me if asked. An MPF Union kills a Civilian but you don't know the reasoning behind the killing.
What do you do? First I read the chat and see if it was an accident/cross fire. If the union doesn't say anything in chat I would then proceed to pm the union on why he killed the rebel. If he doesn't respond I will bring him to a sit to figure out the situation, especially if the citizen reports it in staff chat. After hearing his side I will then privately talk to the civilian to hear his side and see if there were any eye witnesses. If I find it was on purpose I would proceed to warn the union. An H.E.C.U. Soldier enters the Combine base to "RP defect".
How do you proceed as a staff member?
I proceed to let the HECU know we do not "RP Defect" and you are not allowed to enter the enemy base unless you are enslaved or turned into a stalker or capped. If he does it again I proceed to warn him for breaking the rules. You find a SU/MACE CO infiltrating without notifying their team in chat. You bring them into a sit to talk to them about breaking the rules. In this sit the CO threatens to demote your RP character if you don't let them go.
How do you handle this? I would inform the CO that you can not threaten to demote an IC rank/character when in a Staff sit because this is OOC and has to do with the server rules. If he proceeds to threaten me I will take video footage and send it to his higher ups while still warning him for breaking the infiltration rules. A group of players comes onto the server and threatens to DDOS or raid it.
What do you think you should do? Personally I have seen that a DDOS threat in most servers is an offense that leads to getting banned. I would take video evidence, get their steam ID's and proceed to remove them from the server. If I can't ban them I would remove them via warns or kicks and ask for a higher staff members help with the situation. You see a high ranking staff member doing something questionable, but you don't know if it is allowed.
What do you do? First, I would reread the rules to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Next I would record the action. Then, I would talk to a Staff member that's higher than the one performing the action. If I find out it is not allowed I proceed to give the evidence of the staff member breaking the rules.
