What is your suggestion? A: Allow Grid NCOs the ability to create FOB Entities (With CO perms)
How would this benefit the server? A:
1. Officers are stupid sometimes - The common denominator of Combine COs is their capability to overlook the parts of their job they are suppose to do. This includes FOB placement. The only people I have seen relatively on top of this is Grid COs and Overlook. In the last like week I've seen maybe 5 FOBs. Overall, Grids are more inclined to use the FOB due to being the Building CLASS. Thus, they are more than able to be trusted at NCO to be trained by their already effective COs in using FOB technology.
2. Grid is the Building Class, give a reason to their FOB beyond base creation. - Grid is the counterpart to Engineer for the Combine side. They are the class responsible for building locations of safety for units and making points harder to take over. This means that they create FOBs already as a means to defend a location near a point. What is the problem is that should these FOBs be cleared out, nobody is there to defend them and thus the FOB falls and dies. The FOB entity itself would allow Grid to have a function past just building, but also allowing for better spawn locations.
3. The ability itself would bolster Grid recruitment. - I love grid so much, and feel as though they are underutilized for their ability in the game. This change would make Grid much more active due to its use tactically.
1.) This is an issue with the CO corps (and rebels to an extent but that’s a different conversation), not an issue with GRID or the FOB entity
2.) “The FOB entity itself would allow Grid to have a function past just building.” Grid can do a lot of things other than build. They can deploy vehicles for transport and combat, shell point locations, craft stuff for the team, etc.
3.) GRID recruitment has been improving regardless, yeah sure giving them more stuff would help with recruitment but that can be said for any division
All in all I don’t think that it’s necessary for this to be a thing to supplement GRID when they got a lot going for them anyway. There’s just some work that needs to be done in other places
oh and another thing, if they need CO permission why doesn’t the CO just run over there and place it themselves
In concept I have no issue with this, but I think its also more or less just letting people get away with not doing their jobs by giving the responsibility to someone else.

I guess it could be changed to be a thing they do, and it would be a thing a Grid NCO would be trained in so they can do it without the need for scrutiny
I have to agree that it does just make sense for the building class to have the FOB tool that you're meant to build around. So +1 (and give engineer ncos the sewer tool when that is implemented as well, it just makes sense.)
I think it makes total sense for GRID NCOs to be able to place FOBs. Does it let other COs be lazy? Yes, but we've already seen that COs being lazy is a thing that will never change, no matter how hard we try. It is both easier and more effective to also let GRID NCOs place FOB entities down.
I agree. Perhaps Grid Cos will see it more often and as a product of psychology, do it more themselves. Everyone wins! Plus it will better acclimate ncos better for correct CO type behavior, thus raising them up well.
