Okay, hear me out. While I agree you shouldn't be able to shoot midair with this synergy, jump-shooting with the rpg is extremely useful and removing it is a considerable nerf to ballista. You may be thinking to yourself, "In what fucking situation is that any better than just shooting from the ground?" Well I'll tell you. It helps a LOT when dueling Vics.
Helis are just a tad bit clunky. They take a moment to swing around and aim the auto 50cal. And as a ballista, you have to exploit that if you want survive more that 3 seconds. If you stand still you'll look like a free ice-cream punch card real fuckin quick. But if you move around. ...If you try to predict and doge that death beam of bullets. ...If you jump away from the most of the rocket's splash damage. ...If you dive of the roof at the last second. You might just land a rocket or two before you die. Removing our ability to shoot rockets while airborne screws up our mobility and/or reduces our ability to fight back.
Same thing applies with ground vehicle, albeit you can usually find a wall to put between you and the tank.
We can get shredded by vics like any other class, except its out job to fight them. Our only defense... The only thing that keeps us from dying instantly, is shift and space on our keyboards.
PS: I cannot describe the sheer euphoria you get from landing a rocket kill after being launched ten stories by a catapult.
imagine thinking that's enjoyable for anybody else.
