Personally, I don't give a rat's ass about a map's aesthetic or theme. Gameplay is the most important aspect in what determines the quality of a map; everything else should be considered second.

Also, the only thing that ties Beta Works to Half Life is Combine base; nothing else is related. And it's weird because Combine base is made out of concrete and not Combine's signature blue metal.

+1 for main, I havent played much but Ive seen enough complaints to know were past it just being kneejerk reactions.

From what I can remember at the time when we finally found out Main was a problem no one really could point what the problem with it was other than it being "boring", didn't stop them from not playing on it tho.

But all that being said we also just don't play on betaworks either so ig you can change it? it wouldn't fix anything though.

I say city8 is still better (suck my NARDS with yo requirements me want city8)

I feel like way more people would be interested in defn_main (any map really) then betaworks, and again, the amount of permaprops would be able to be cut down a lot, so that would help with performance.

I felt like when I was at combine base on white forest, there would be loads of lag. I am not sure if it has anything to do with props but it definitely made it unplayable. Also +1 for defn_main, a good map with some tweaks to make it better.

I also want to agree to Defn_Main, played alot on the Map and actually liked it aswell

or anything else but Betaworks is actually Terror, even for myself

+1 for main or anything really
I think main will not cause any issues with the numbers of players because its gonna be there for like couple of hours and not a full do or full time map

Beta works sucks alot and there is alot of reason
Fps issues
Combine base can easily be spawn campers
Too open (which led to staff putting props which made the fps problem worse)
Alot of issues like the plane hit box and the nuke hit box
People hate deploying on it


I like the map's idea and how its made and i can get behind it but running on 30 fps at max mid combat is just annoying and i would rather go afk and do something else or just go play another game until the map have been switched

One more note tho
Sent said you need alot of props to make combine base bigger of main
But we already have like more than 200 over all in both bases and on the field
While on main u dont really need that many props on the field

I would take fps and enjoyment anyday over the theme of a map and how it looks and what its meant to be
I see main as a prefect fit and the only "problem" is that combine base kinda small

Hello yes, for all of you who are citing Defn_Main as your map of choice, I believe it important to tell you that THAT is why your opinions are made almost immediately irrelevant to the selection process of maps.

DEFN Main was re-added to the server some time (year) ago, and the population of the server went from "Stable, around fifty people" to "Dead." in a matter of days.

Suggest something new, do your own browsing on the steam workshop for cool shit that fits the specifications Sentinel stated. Not things that have proven to not work.

Happy you mentionned it , I think that if people actually want this map to be changed, shouldn't we turn to a few things that have never been used or revisited before?

I often hear City 8 or Defn_Main coming up when we talk about maps, and I understand that for many of us, these were either our first maps or just the ones really worked at some point.

So I've come up with something that mixes a City and an Outland environment, 2 in 1.

So I think that, if by chance (and I do mean by chance) it ends up being added to the server, it will probably have to be modified, but the possibilities are enormous.

City8 with the outlands added is actually really nice but I suspect John Sentinel already checked it out and found out the mass amount of episodic content within, so that's not gonna fly.

Also from what I can recall performance is quite rough but I was on a worse PC back then
