What is your suggestion? The addition of more drones to CVR. As it stands there are two drones: the manhack and the rollermine. I believe the addition of drones unique to certain classes could spice up gameplay. I’ll give some examples.
Cargo drones, such as this one, could quickly transport special ordinance like heavy weapons and vehicles to the front lines. All one would need to do is radio HQ and light a flare.
Light scout drones assist squads by warning of incoming reinforcements, surveying potential FOB locations, pinpointing snipers, marking targets for artillery, and locating weakpoints in enemy defenses.
Spy drones could be used to infiltrate enemy bases and collect intelligence, and assist infiltration classes with stealing supplies.
In places where establishing continuous supply routes isn’t feasible, such as deep behind enemy lines, or the rapidly shifting front lines, resupply drones could provide essential supplies like ammo and health to squads. It’s a resupply locker that follows you!
Repair drones could repair vehicles and structures in the middle of combat, when doing so manually is a death sentence.
Alright that's enough on passive drones. Let’s get to the ones that blow shit up, of which there are many.
This drone is a personal defense drone of sorts, serving as an alternative to the manhack. While the manhack is used to divert fire away from the user by distracting enemies, the personal defense drone hovers above the user’s shoulder and provides fire support. It would of course be automated, just like the manhack.
Assault drones are essentially remote control soldiers. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but usually sport the same build. They’re lightly armored and highly maneuverable, and excel at punching through infantry.
Support drones offer unique anti-armor capabilities, specializing in neutralizing heavy vehicles and classes. Oftentimes the only anti-armor capabilities standard infantry have at their disposal is handheld rocket launchers, which are risky to use.
Finally we have super-heavy drones. Most if not all of these are completely unbalanced for regular combat. I propose an idea of mine. In the game Battlefield: 1, when one team is losing by a huge margin, they receive support in the form of massive vehicles called behemoths. In the game, behemoths range from airships to armored trains to superheavy tanks. So what if the same thing applied to CVR? The proportions reach somewhat ridiculous levels though, so a couple might only be viable for events. The largest vehicle: the Pac Titan, has a full interior, and is essentially its own map. (There's a neon-green combine elite placed for scale)
The implementation of any of these is still up for speculation. Some drones would be exclusive to specific classes, such as the repair drone for vehicle and construction classes or the spy drone for infiltration classes. However a multitude of drones remain. Perhaps a new class is in order? One which provides support to squads from HQ, from drone support to artillery to relaying info and orders to squads? Like I said, it’s all just speculation.
+1 i like the idea of more drones, my only concern is the workshop link that you put , the page acknowledges it doesnt work well with other addons and just from the reviews alone seems very buggy.
Drones are very cool. They are laggy. They are finnicky, and janky, and very very unbalanced.
There is a world where drones can exist in CvR and be both fun and amusing. I don't think this is that world. The revolution of skynet may have to wait another day, because a CvR based around drone warfare sounds hilariously unbalanced and buggy, and not what the server's going for.
I bring to you, a minor list of the many various un-fun things that can be easily accomplished via drone warfare.
-Sitting at the top of the skybox with a rocket drone and sniping anything that moves. (or any variation thereof)
-Having an OSS/EOD with a portable risk-free TF2 Spawn Locker behind them.
-Having Spy Drones from MACE/SU silently (and in some versions, invisibly) listening in on every debrief, battle plan, interrogation, ect.
-Personal defense drones providing automatic area-denial and preventing any Capture from happening ever again.
-Behemoths. As a whole.
-Crashing the server because the cargo drone is beyond stupid.
As much as I love me some drones, have highly enjoyed this addon in the past, and think a "drone operator" style of role would be kinda funny, I think there would be a lot of friction generated by adding these assets to CvR that outweighs the benefits for MOST of the drones provided by the addon. Please suggest readding Gredwitch, because we need more heavy artillery.

I will never forgive Sentinel for removing artillery.

Okay that’s all I can think of on this particular subject. I’m gonna go get a drink.
note: i forgot to include the workshop link for the PAC titan. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f...1107607103
