You bring them into a sit to talk to them about breaking the rules. In this sit the CO threatens to demote your RP character if you don't let them go.

Yes, Rule D3 (and D9 to a degree) does not follow the "laws of physics". A group of players comes onto the server and threatens to DDOS or raid it.

+1 Though the staff team will have (probably) seen none of it, he's exceptionally competent when it comes to rendering impartial decisions and more importantly collecting evidence either of the situation or the 'opposing' sides before rendering such decisions, which I've witnessed personally over his time as AIU.
